What if Katniss was pregnant?

Part 4

After I told him about the miscarriage, we walked back to the beach. We found Finnick using a sphere to fish for food, and Peeta grabbed his weapon to help too. I fished using my boy and arrow, but I found I wasn't very good at it, so I just went right back to the beach, I wasn't feeling all that great anyway. It wasn't long before Peeta and Finnick came back with hands full of fish, clams and crab. While we were just finishing up Peeta opened a clam and found a pearl in it.

"For you." He handed the pearl to me, placing it in my opened hand. I examined it for a little.

"Thank you." He smiled back, and we just sat staring at each other for a while, until we heard screaming.

"That's new." Peeta replied sarcastically. Just across from the river a huge wave flowed through. We all backed up, hoping it wasn't going to cross the river, hoping it wasn't going to come to us. It stopped at the other end of the river.

I guess that that wave scared me more than I thought, because I clutched my stomach and started puking. Peeta ran up to me right away and held my hair back while I puked. When I was done, I realized that this could be morning sickness, and I could still be pregnant, that or I was seriously getting sick. Peeta must have realized this at around the same time as me, he whispered to me.

"Do you think it's okay then?" I just shrugged my shoulders, I really had no way of telling for a little while still, and I was just as confused as he was.

Then we heard people coming through the end of the jungle, all three of us hid behind the trees and got our weapons prepared to shoot. I looks like it's Beetee, Johanna, and Wiress.

"Johanna?" Finnick kind or whispers next to me. "Johanna!" He yells to her this time and comes out from the tree line, running towards her.

"Finnick!" Johanna yells back, clearly not an enemy of ours.

"Guess we have more allies." Peeta grumbles next to me. Peeta helps me and we jog over to them. That was when I realized that they were drenched in blood.

"We were all deep in the Jungle where I thought it was gonna be safe, that's when the rain started, I thought it was water, turned out to be blood. Hot, thick blood." Johanna is telling Finnick what happened in the jungle. I notice Wiress mumbling in a kind of crazed tone.

"Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock."

"It was coming down hard, chocking us, we were stumbling around, gagging on it blind." Johanna continued, "That's when Blight hit the force field, he wasn't much but he was from home."

"Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock." Wiress continued in her crazed voice.

"What's wrong with her?" I asked gesturing to Wiress.

Beetee was the one who answered my question, he was just getting out of the river after cleaning the blood off himself. "She's in shock, dehydration isn't helping either. Do you have fresh water?"

I nodded. "We can get some."

Wiress was now shaking Johanna repeating the same words over and over again. "Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock."

"Stop it!" Johanna yells, shoving Wiress.

"Hey! Get off of her!" I yell shoving Johanna away from Wiress. It's not long before Finnick is grabbing Johanna off of me and Peeta is grabbing me off of Johanna.

"Do you really think it's okay to fight in your condition right now." Peeta scolds me. I couldn't help get mad at him when he said that. I still was in the mood to fight with Johanna.

"My condition? This baby is probably already dead, and even if it isn't, it'll only get to have one parent. One of us is gonna die. And if I die, there's no baby, if you die, this child doesn't get the wonderful father that you would be." I hadn't realized I was yelling. Everyone is looking at me either confused or sad, even Johanna.

Peeta wraps his strong arms around me once again, comforting me. " Katniss everything is gonna be okay. We're okay right now, this child could be okay."

I felt wetness on my shoulder and realized that he was crying too.

"I know. I'm sorry." That's all I could manage to say to him.

I'm assuming we look really weird to everyone else, just hugging each other, crying, but they don't know what were going through.

After a while Peeta lets go of me and goes to talk to Finnick and Beetee about what we should do next. I decide to go to help Wiress, who is just sitting in the sand, mumbling the same thing, wash off.

I help her up saying, "Come on. Let's get you cleaned up." Johanna looks surprised to hear my voice behind her in the water, but doesn't say anything, just continues to clean herself off. I am going to pretend everything is normal, and that the whole scene with Peeta back there didn't happen, I'm sure Johanna will be okay with that too.

After cleaning Wiress for a while, I look around and see Beetee alone, playing with some type of coil.

"What's that, that Beetee has?" I ask Johanna.

She turns back to look at Beetee. "The coil? Some kind of wire."

"From the cornucopia?"

"Yeah. He took a knife in the back to get it."

Just then Wiress breathed in and continued her chant.

"Alright I can't." Johanna turns to walk away. "Have fun with nuts."

As she's leaving the lightning starts hitting the tree. That's when I realize that this whole arena is set up like a clock, that's why Wiress has been saying "Tick. Tock."

"Wiress your a genius!" I yell and go back to tell everyone else.

After telling them briefly we go toward the cornucopia.

"This entire arena is set up like a clock, with a new threat every hour, but they stay only in one wedge. At ten that big wave hits from over there." I say, gesturing to where the wave hit.

"Wiress your a genius." Finnick says as he passes her.

"Lightning strikes there at noon and midnight." I say, pointing to the tree.

"Where?" Beetee asks me, I point to the tree again.

"That big tree over there."

"Good."

Now Wiress starts to sing Hickory Dickory Dock. Peeta crouches down at the sand near the middle of the cornucopia and starts to graph out the information we have.

"So twelve to one is lightning, one to two blood, then fog, then the monkeys." Peeta starts, then I continue.

"Then ten to eleven the wave, what about anything else, did you guys see anything?"

"Nothing but blood." Johanna tells us.

"It doesn't matter." Peeta says, "As long as we clear within every section that is active we will be safe."

"Yeah. At the least speaking." Finnick mumbles. Then we hear a gasp.
