The Sleep Over (p4)

Liz had finally stopped after she reached a park. A tear rolled down her face. Even thought Harper had started the rumors at the beginning of the day everyone had heard them by the time lunch came around. Liz sat down under a tree and Connor stood above her.

"Whats going on with you?"-C

"Connor I know your not stupid. Dont you understand what everyones saying?"-L

"Yeah there saying the we slept together. That were dating. Whats the bid problem? I think its funny that everyone thinks that. "-C

"It might be great for you Connor and all of the boys think you so cool and all the girls think you experienced, but its not the same for me Connor." Liz was choking back tears thinking about the mean and awful things that had been said to her at school. Connor had noticed she was crying which again was not usual. These were real tears, unlike before. This would be the 2nd time he had seen Liz cry. Connor feeling a pang of guilt hit him he sat down next to her and put his arm around her. 

"Look. Ill tell everyone its not true and we can tell your dad or the principle or whoever you want."-C

"How do you not care at all Connor? I know its different for you but i know people have said mean things about you. I heard them in my classes and in the hallway." Liz says looking up and wiping her tears.

"Ive heard them. I just dont care"-C

"Why?"-L

"Because. There so much worse rumors that could have gone around about me or you or us. Like think about Snot Rocket Steve, his real name isint even Steve it Joey." Liz dosent say anything and theres a moment of silence. 

"If people are talking bad about me i dont care because the people who know me and are true friends wont say bad things about me and will defend me... and the only person i really care about what thinks of me if you." Connor refuses to look up and stairs at his hands that had a piece of bark in them that hes fiddling with.  Liz looks at him though feeling butterflys in her stomach. 

"and........everyone thinking me and you are together........ doesnt seem that bad to me." Connor says still refusing to look up. Liz looks at him and she raises her hand and pulls is chin up making him look at her. Hes blushing and so is she. Liz gives Connor a warm smile and kisses him on the cheek and leans on him looking back down to the ground. 

"Thanks Connor. I really needed that. I love you"-L

Although the 2 always tell eachother they love one another this time when Liz said it it was diffrent. It meant more then i love you. It meant so much more. Connor smiled and rested his head on Liz's. 

"I love you too"-C

A couple weeks had gone by and the rumors had changed to someone else. Liz had caught up to Harper one day and gave her a sweet little reminder of what she would do to her if she ever started a rumor about her and connor and her in general ever again. What she said was well..... good enough to make Harper stay away from the Tanners houses for a while.
