"But see, Orian sheds unwholesome dews; Arise, the pines a noxious shade diffuse; Sharp Bóreas blows, and nature feels decay, Time conquers all, and we must time obey."
- Alexander Pope

"Oh my god I found it come look !," a young girl shrieks excitedly.

"Wow really let me see," a young boy clumsily runs over to her tripping over his feet. The girl tried her best not laugh while helping him up.

"Aww joonie you gotta be more careful," she gently brushed the dirt off of his pants and checked for injuries. Finding none she grabbed his hand guiding him to the telescope.

"Look there do you see it I found Orion's Belt," she exclaimed.
"Wow Sakura this is amazing I've never seen anything like it," he responded.

Sakura sat down on the blanket her mother set up for them. She gazed up at the stars longing to float amongst them. Being the daughter of an Astronomer and a literal astronaut, Sakura was bound to have a love for the heavens above. She spent most nights studying constellations and sketching the ones she finds with her best friend namjoon.

"I can't believe we finally got to see Orion's Belt," Joon exclaimed joining her on the blanket, "It's even better than it looks in the books."

"I know right I'm glad it happened before I'm forced into exile," Sakura rolled her eyes.
"Saki you're moving to Alaska not the North Pole," joon chuckled. He was trying to keep her spirits up because in truth he was dreading not being able to see his best friend daily.

They've spent everyday of the past five years together.
Joon remembers the first time they met in kindergarten.

He remembers how shy she was always hiding behind her curls or a book. Namjoon has always been a bit clumsy, so one afternoon while at recess he was chasing a butterfly and fell face first right in front of her. Sakura being a naturally charismatic person helped him up, and took him to their teacher. She held his hand the entire time the teacher cleaned his wounds.

Namjoon was grateful, no one had ever showed him such kindness. The two made small talk or the five year old equivalent of it. They found out how much they had in common. After that they were inseparable. Sakura shared her books about space and namjoon taught her about different plants. Now here they were five years later enjoying their last night together under the stars.

"Joonie I hope that when we turn 18 and we finally have our soulmate marks that they will lead us back to each other," Sakura said still focused on the stars.

"I hope so to then we would never have to be away from each other and build forts whenever we want," namjoon flashed an adorable dimpled smile.

Sakura looked over at her best friend returning his smile. She was going to miss his smile, and the way spending time with him felt like being home snuggled up with a blanket reading her favorite comic books during a rainstorm. Sakura was only ten but she knew that she was leaving a piece of her behind with joon.

"Don't forget to call when you land," namjoons mom sniffled, "I'll be keeping the satellite phone next to me at all times," she pulled Sakura's mom into a tight hug. They had become inseparable like their children over the years.

"You know I'll be calling every chance I get," Sakura's mom squeezed her back. They held each other for what seemed like forever to their children.

"Come here little ones," their mother's signaled them to join the hug. Sakura and joon joined embraced their mothers along with their younger siblings.

They held each other tightly before separating. Sakura turned to look at joon one last time. Their tear filled eyes met they sent each other sad but encouraging smiles.

"See you in 8 years"
"Yeah see you"

With that Sakura joined her mom and younger brother.
She tried to calm herself 8 years would fly by like nothing. Besides they can always send letters like her grandmother taught her.
She would see her friend again and he would be her soulmate. Sakura felt it in her heart this wasn't goodbye for forever.

History of Soulmates:
Soulmates have been apart of our world for centuries. Numerous studies have been done but no one knows how it truly works. So far scientists have figured out that your mark starts appearing when you turn 16 and is fully formed on your 18th birthday. The mark will remain a outline or random shape until you meet your soulmate or soulmates.
Groups of soulmates have been becoming more common. The largest group on record is 5.
The downside to receiving your mark is the longer it stays blank the more you feel the debilitating loneliness. Your health will decline due to your weakened mental state. It is recommended that you bond with your soulmate within five years of receiving your mark.
