Ace

I finally took gasping breaths when Nick swerved to the side of the road and parked, Aspen sliding off my lap seconds later to exit the car.

I pressed my head to the seat as my dick pounded under my jeans.

Jesus... fuck...

Was it just me... or was she teasing the fuck out of me?

On purpose?

When I finally recuperated my desires, I got out of the car and joined Nick who was leaning casually against a tree, watching Aspen curiously as she stepped over to a bench in the middle of the park.

There was a girl sitting there...

It was the same one in the graveyard... her brown hair and slim body.

That "Summer" girl.

I watched in curiosity as she stood in front of Summer and spoke something softly to her, keeping her expression calm.

The girl immediately looked behind and locked eyes on us.

The moment I saw her familiar blue eyes, I stilled.

She and Aspen... They're related.

I could just tell with their eye color.

Summer's gaze hardened and she shot off the bench and stepped backwards, watching us suspiciously.

Aspen put her hands up and spoke something to her.

God, I wish I knew what they were saying.

Summer's stance seemed to relax, and she gazed up at us with more curiosity now.

"Who the fuck is that?" Nick questioned in suspicion.

"I don't know," I responded.

Cousin? Sister?

No... if it was a sister, I'd know who she was. I'd never seen this girl in my life, and I was at their house more often than an average boyfriend.

Aspen explained something to her, and Summer's eyes started glowing.

And she darted up to us, Aspen yelling out in panic as Summer came up, gasping with the exercise.

I was on alert, watching her carefully as Nick backed up to keep his distance.

"I'm sorry for everything," Summer explained quickly as Aspen ran to us, calling her name. "This is my fault. Don't hate her, she's been protecting me, she's—"

"Summer!" Aspen yelled, catching up to us. "Shut up! Don't tell them anything!"

"Don't ditch her," Summer continued. "Please, she needs you."

My heart pounded against my ribcage at this response, and I exchanged a "what the fuck" look with Nick before Aspen clamped a hand around her mouth.

"Summer, you need to go," she told her, eyes glimmering with tears. "Please, Summer. Stop coming out. He's everywhere."

I looked up at her then, watching her expression as she gazed at the other girl in panic.

"Who are you talking about?" I said, wondering if I could pry it out of this girl here.

My heart skipped a beat when Summer opened her mouth to respond, but Aspen clamped her hand around it, once more. "Summer," she begged, "stop."

Anger brimmed inside me at her reluctance.

He's everywhere.

The murderer, I felt. I suspected it, but what Summer said...

She's been protecting me.
