Part 02: Decisions, decisions.

November 7th 2022 was the day I landed in Sacramento CA. I stepped into James D's house and it was exactly how I left it in 2018. The room I used to rent then was kind of adjacent to the front door but now, I had to be in L's room. L was my old roommate who I think moved out recently.

A piece of paper on the door had "Elizabeth" written on it. I laughed to myself. James D thinks this old ass house is an Air bnb innit?

To the right of  L's room aka my room is James D's room. The door had a piece of paper with the most beautiful rainbow drawing and unicorn plastered decoration that says "Welcome home James, I love you!" written on it.

To the left of L's room is another room with a sign with a huge hand writing  in pencil that says "everyone, please knock before you enter" I just smiled. James D's son used to be in that room when he visited James but he was 16 in 2018, a 20 year old definitely didn't write  that but I'll soon find out who did.

I carried my numerous suitcases from the door to the room and bounced on the bed letting out a "thank you Jesus". I sent James D a text letting him know I arrived safely and asked for the new Wi-Fi password because the one I used to know was not accepted when I tried it on my computer even though the Wi-Fi name was the same as 2018.

I connected all my devices and sat in bed to finally open this new app. Nothing much. Matches are timed and the app wants to force you to talk to one person for a couple hours before you can get matched with another person.

I was swiping left bombastically. I wasn't digging that.

My close friends know that I'm soft at heart and fall in love in 24 hours. The ones in Dallas even started calling me lover girl. I told them to stop it but they still tease me with it. That part of me leapt for joy two minutes into opening Coffee Meets Bagel.

One of the first things I did was change my location from Dallas Texas to Sacramento California, then I swiped left on two men who were pleasing to the eyes but were giving playa.

Then John's profile popped up.

Everything about his profile made me immediately interested. Student working on his MBA, 30, recently moved to the USA, dressed normally, no thirst trap photo, looks laid back and gentle. His profile showed he valued vulnerability, family and he was Christian. It just seemed so genuine. I swiped right immediately and sent him a message following one of the prompts suggested on his profile.

There are some important things I cannot leave out about his appearance on his profile. He had an interesting colored shirt on with a red bow tie, he had a jacket on it with a red pocket square too. That dressing alone made me realize he is really new in the USA and I smiled. His hair line was pushed back to show he'll be bald in a couple years but his actual hair was spiky-I could tell he used the loc foam to achieve that spike since I do hair. He was about 6 feet and 2" tall, and slender .

One major surprise is the fact that he is located in Fremont California and I in Sac, how? BLK did not give me the luxury of talking to nobody outside of Dallas, only one other app I used called Ok Cupid did but I did not use the app for long since the profiles on it looked like they all owned android phones.

Well, I later discovered he expanded his search the same day we began texting since he wasn't finding what he liked in the Fremont area. Thinking back on it now just makes me smile. I have never felt anything more electrifying.
