Kaden And Kip (Short Story)

Kip watched the leatherback that was one of the many few that gave them attention no matter what,give another kid his attention.

Velvet was only nine,and still, he'd liked the attention that he got from Kaden. Though Kaden didn't mind giving both of the kiddos' attention,he was unknowingly giving the most to velvet,and this upsetted Kip.

The attempts, the blue tailed skink,was very limited to where they tried to always call or chirp out for Kaden's attention to get away from Velvet,or sometimes they'd stoop down to do whatever Vel did to grab Kaden's attention.

On this day in particular,Kip finally had a small plan that the toddler could come up with:they would get to Kaden before Ness could bring Velvet over to the lair,for the normal play date that he wanted.

To Kip, this was a full proof plan that had to work,but once they made it to where Kaden would normally be,which was the living room,they were too late. There was no sign of the leatherback but rather just the four normal turtles and his moth parent.

"Hey Kipper! You finally got out of Raph's stuffed animals, huh?" Leo said as he chuckled.

"Kaykay?" Kip said as they looked around, clearly getting upset.

"Oh, Kaden, went out with Ness and Velvet,I think they'll be back late," Raine said as they walked over and picked Kip up.

Kip wasn't happy about this, and finally, after all this time,they finally started to have a tantrum,crying and screaming.

This, of course, caught all of them off guard,quickly trying to find ways to make Kip stop crying.

Raph tried to suggest that he would give them a tea party,but that didn't work. Mikey and Raine tried to suggest cooking, but even at that, it still didn't work. Donnie tried to say he'd buy them new toys,give them anything they wanted,but nothing worked.

Meanwhile, Kaden and Ness were currently in the hidden city,letting Velvet enjoy a day in the city. The two talked as they walked around with the adolescent,and the three seemed to be lost in their worlds till a certain ringtone that Kaden had for a certain slider broke him out of his conversation with his friend.

Kaden took out his phone and answered it, wondering what the other could need.

"Yes le-" Before Kaden could even say anything else, he heard the screams of Kip and the others currently freaking out.

"Kaden! Please come home! Now!!! Kip is screaming for you to be here, " Leo yelled as he soon hung up.

Kaden stood there silent as he looked down at his phone, which was just the black screen.

"Hey, everything ok?" Ness asked as she placed her hands in her pocket as she used her tail to keep Velvet close.

"I..I need to go back to the lair,ok?" Kaden said as he looked at her with a small frown. Ness, of course, nodded and looked down at Velvet and motioned for him to say bye to the leatherback.

Kaden waved bye to them and quickly left to head back to the lair.

Once the leather back came back to the lair, all he could hear was Kip crying and throwing their tantrum.

He made his way to the living room, seeing the chaos that had unfolded.

"Jeez, you guys really don't know how to calm a kid down," Kaden said as he chuckled and smiled a bit.

"Not the time to joke,polka dots,just do your magic," Raine said as they gently grabbed Kaden's shoulders and moved him towards Kip.

Kaden looked down at the crying kip and sighed and picked them up, and held them close.

He rubbed their back gently and nuzzled them,letting out his chirps. He normally did when he wanted to communicate with Kip.

This seemed to have calmed the toddler as they clung to him and nuzzled back,chirping back as well.

A huge sigh of relief came from everyone as they took a breath, realizing the chaos was finally over and done.

Kaden looked down at Kip and sat down on the ground, setting them in front of him.

"Ok, you mind telling me why you freaked out and caused everyone to panic?" Kaden asked as he raised a non existing brow.

Kip was silent as they started to fidget and looked down at their feet. What should they say? They had no reason to act this way,but they clearly had a reason why.

"...kaykay was gone…kip sad," they said as they whimpered,letting out a small churr.

Kaden perked up and fixed his posture by sitting up straight and placing his hands on his knees.

"Oh,well, I'm sorry. Is that bothering you?" Kaden asked as he seemed to be trying to get on the right track.

"Kip and kaykay! Nu vel!" Kip stated, and this caused Kaden to be surprised by what they said.

It finally clicked into Kaden's head what Kip meant, and he instantly felt horrible. He didn't realize that Kip was upset with him for not spending any time with them.

"Oh…kipper…I'm..I'm sorry. I didn't realize that I wasn't spending any time with you. I was just trying to make Vel feel welcome, " he explained as he gently patted their head.

Kip looked up at Kaden,noticing the small smile the leatherback held. The blue tailed skink smiled and hugged Kaden, clinging to him tightly.

Kaden chuckled and hugged back,keeping them close. Both of them were pretty happy to the point that their tails were just wagging,showing the others how happy they were to be around each other again.
