When he was six, his oldest sibling disappeared.
When he was six, he took on the responsibility of future Queen.

Rui Kamishiro never understood the people's hatred of the Candle Queen until he was impacted by his selfish decisions.
He'd just been performing for the little kids in the small town he lived next to, creating purple flames in the air to show pictures as he told the story. Rui always had to tell the kids to get back; they always leaned forward and he didn't want them to get hurt.
"Hey! Stop that! Magic is illegal!" a guard yelled, walking up to Rui.
"What?" Rui says, quickly making the flames dissipate.
"You heard me! The Queen's banned magic in public!" the guard snaps.
"Forgive me," Rui says, forcing sincerity into his voice, "I wasn't aware of this."
"I suppose I can let you off with a warning, but don't let me catch you doing it again!" the guard turned around and stormed off.
Rui then decided he was going to give the Candle Queen a peace of his mind.

The kingdom of Solis was ruled by the Tenma family. The Tenmas were kind and beneficial rulers until King Kaito and Queen Meiko died and their second eldest child took the throne.
The new ruler was selfish and cared very little for his subjects, doing little to help them.
He was soon disliked by many of his subjects and yet he didn't care. As long as he was in power, he was the best.
