It took Rui a while to reach the city of Lumen. It took him two days, to be exact, since he was traveling on foot rather than in a fancy carriage.
Lumen was a bustling city that was nestled within sight of the castle. Rui didn't care much for the city, wishing this was all just a horrid dream. He hated the crowds and the people. If the people knew what Rui's flame color was or what he did in his free time, he'd surely be called weird and shunned, just like in his small town.
Rui kept his head down and ensured his hat was secured on his head as he made his way through the streets of Lumen to Mizuki's tailor shop.
A ding of a bell sounded as he opened the door to Mizuki's shop, the sign above the store dubbing it "Amia's Tailor."
"How may I h- Rui!" Mizuki cut themself off and hugged Rui. "Long time no see! I'll show you to the guest room!" Mizuki smiled and walked up the stairs to the second floor and to a door. They looked back to make sure Rui was there before opening the door and revealing a nicely decorated guest bedroom.
The room was primarily shades of blue, the primary color being light blue and a deep royal blue being the accent color. It looked as if Mizuki had tried decorating it for all genders so that nobody would complain.
"It looks nice," Rui commented, setting his suitcase down near the door.
"Thank you!" Mizuki said happily. "I spent a whole month decorating this one. Anywho, the bathroom is the door to the right of this one. Feel free to bathe. I'll let you get settled in." Mizuki smiled and left Rui.
Rui entered the bathroom and ran a bath for himself, throwing his clothes carelessly on the floor but gingerly placing his hat on the countertop. He stayed in the tub a little longer than he should've, enjoying the feel of being clean after two days of travel.
He felt out of place as he walked back into the guest bedroom. Blue wasn't his color, and the room was much too fancy for his liking. Not that he had anything against fancy decor; he just wasn't used to it.
Rui threw on some soft baggy clothing and sat on the bed; the soft sheets felt like they would swallow him whole. He didn't remember the last time he'd actually slept in a bed, either. He'd usually just pass out at his desk while he was working on something.
Rui yawned, the fatigue of his journey caught up with him. He laid down and was out the moment his head hit the pillow.
"Rui! I got us some-" Mizuki chirped as they entered the room, carrying a snack tray. In a much quieter voice, they continued, "Oh. You must be exhausted. I'll let you sleep. Goodnight, Rui."
Mizuki gently closed the door and hung a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door.
