"Rescue team! We have three other civilians inside, and the structure is not sound. Hurry it up!" Herrera said through her radio.

Maya was on the rescue team this call, and she knew the risks of going back into the building, yet she ran back in anyways. She was an overachiever since childhood due to her father, who had pushed her to be first at everything ever since she was a child.

"Lieutenant Bishop, come back outside right now!" Andy was Maya's best friend, and there was no way that she would lose another firefighter on a call like this.

Obviously, Maya didn't listen, because as soon as she heard that, she ran in the building faster than she did before. As soon as Maya stepped foot inside, she was greeted with huge clouds of black smoke, and burning hot temperatures. Of course, as a firefighter, she was used to it, but it never failed to surprise her how black smoke could get.

Maya swore she could hear someone screaming for help, but couldn't put her finger on where. "Call out if you need help!" Maya yelled through her mask. She was about to walk up the stairs to the second floor when she heard a crash.

In the blink of an eye, Maya was on the floor, and whatever was on her body restricted her from moving.

"Lieutenant Bishop, do you copy? Lieutenant!" Captain Herrera listened closely for any sign that her best friend was on the radio, but all she heard was radio static.

Maya woke up in an ambulance, with people from her team surrounding her, such as her close friends Travis and Vic.

"Wh- what happened?" Maya wheezed. It was surprisingly hard to talk, especially since she didn't know why she was getting rushed to the hospital.

"Sh, sh, don't try to talk. You went in to try to save a victim and the building collapsed. It's a miracle you even survived," Travis whispered.

"Did-" Maya didn't even get to finish her sentence before she blacked out for the second time that night.

"Female, Maya Bishop, 33, was on scene when a piece of house fell through her abdominal area. There's no exit wound, but the bleeding is controlled. She has a collapsed lung and is in and out of consciousness," Maya didn't recognize that voice, but she guessed it was just a paramedic she wasn't familiar with yet.

"Ok, we'll take it from here, thank you," Maya was incredibly grateful that Dr. Grey was on her case, and she knew she was going to get the best care possible.

"Ouch, my stomach hurts." The blonde had just woken up from surgery, and it surprisingly hurt a lot less than she thought it would.

"Well no duh, Maya, you just had major surgery," Vic said.

"I know, but-" Maya got cut off when a stunning, wavy-haired doctor came into the room.

"Maya Bishop?" Carina Deluca was fairly new to America, let alone Grey-Sloan, so when she saw a pair of gorgeous blue eyes staring up at her, she couldn't help but smile.

"That's me! And you are?"

"Sorry for the abrupt introduction, I'm Dr. Carina Deluca, the OB/GYN here at Grey-Sloan."

At first it didn't even click for the blonde that an OB was visiting her, because of the sexy Italian accent that came out of the doctor's lips.

"Um, Maya, I think you're supposed to say something now," Vic automatically knew that Maya had feelings for Carina, but she wasn't going to say that in front of the doctor.

"Oh- Um- Yeah. I'm sorry, did you say you were an OB? I didn't think I was pregnant," Maya knew there was a possibility since she slept with Jack a few weeks ago, but they has always been careful not to let something like that happen.

Carina forgot that when most people saw an OB in hospitals, they thought of pregnancy, so she had to clear up the confusion. "Oh no, you're not pregnant. I saw on your chart that there was a mass on one of your ovaries, and it's probably not much, but I'll be keeping you under close supervision within the next 72 hours. Is that ok with you?"

Maya was in disbelief from what she heard. The blonde was slightly concerned about the mass on her ovary, but she couldn't believe that was was going to be under close supervision from the hot doctor that walked in here.

"It's just fine by me, Dr. Deluca," Maya could feel herself reddening so she knew she had to get out of her situation fast.

"Um I- I have to go to the restroom," Maya quickly said.

As the Italian doctor got walked out of the room, she couldn't help but think about how attractive he patient was.

Her patient.

She couldn't have a crush her patient. The brunette haired woman had heard rumors about doctors dating patients in this hospital, and the stories never ended well. Carina couldn't date her patient, no matter what. Not even if her patient's blue eyes sucked her in. Not even if her patient was beautiful. Carina couldn't date her patient.

Maya, on the other hand, was trying not to freak out over the fact that her hot Italian doctor was going to be supervising her for the next 72 hours. Closely supervising. Her hot Italian doctor was going to be closely supervising her for the next 72 hours.

"Maya, you come out now, she's gone," Vic was trying to hold in a giggle after being able to feel the tension between the doctor and the patient from just a feet away.

"Ugh, Vic how am I supposed to handle myself around her? She's my DOCTOR for god's sake. I know you and Andy can tell when I'm flustered, which means you definitely saw me blush from just feet away."

"It's ok Maya, you'll figure something out. Shift starts in a few hours, so I have to get home and get a nap I'm so I'll see you after. Also, I'll make sure to tell Andy and Trav so that they can give their expertise on the situation," Vic winked at the blonde who's cheeks were still tomato red after coming out the bathroom.

"Haha, you're sooo funny. Love you, and please send help," Maya joked.

"I know I'm funny," Vic winked at Maya one more time before finally exiting the room, and
left Maya with nothing but her thoughts about a certain Italian.
