It was a cold and rainy day in the townsquare of Heatherington. Umbrellas filled the space with the professionals going about in their coats and long faces, avoiding eye contact with whoever passes by them.
Raindrops hit the stony sidewalks, providing a little moisture for the living organisms in the cracks. The vehicles moved by slowly, as pedestrians saw an opportunity to walk across the streets in a languid manner. This was the usual activity of the townsquare whenever the weather was like this. It was normal to not stand out and to look straight ahead, seemingly oblivious of the world around them.
It was good for Juliette, that no one would 'notice' her, since she had broken her umbrella and had to run in the rain with only a book for protection. Her clothes were soaked completely and her hair, ruined.
She finally arrived at a little café to rest at. However, as a cause of her sad state, she was denied of entering.
It would obviously cause a mess.
So she had to stand at the door, with the awning protecting her from the elements. She sighed as she hugged herself to relieve her of the cold, but the wet sleeves made it worst. Her book was soaked wet and the pages sticked together.
How she got into this situation of despair, is something to be kept unknown until further revelation.
She was starting to be fully aware of herself and avoided eye contact with curious passerbys. She soon bowed her head as small tears escaped her eyes.
At that moment, all the sounds were muffled but her own. The space around her became blurry and she honestly felt alone.
Until...
She felt a slight weight on her shoulders, and a small feeling like a fireplace being lit.
She slowly looked up, revealing her tear stained eyes to a man who seemed to be in his late twenties.
She realized that a coat had been placed over her shoulders, and saw that the man was without one.
She quickly wiped her tears and felt speechless.
"Humanity is cruel by passing a lady who needs to be comforted. Seeing you cry is enough to be heartwrenching, but ignoring you would have brought more pains beyond measure; call it guilt", he said as he gave her a small, but warm smile.
Juliette looked up at him and smiled softly.
All she could answer, was,"Thank you..".
"You're very much welcome young miss, I would ask for background information as to why you resulted in this, but out of courtesy, I'd rather not. My only wish is that you will be comforted from whatever pain that fell on you", he said and he scribbled something on a piece of paper before putting it into the pocket of the coat.
"You can find my contacts on that paper, so that you can return the coat whenever, I hope you'll be happy sooner or later", he said, before adjusting the coat and walking away shortly.
Juliette was grateful for his affections that may seem small to many. But it was enough to aid her from the rejection of past events.
She took out the paper and read:
" River Harrison
Call me at (×××)×××-×××××
P.S- you can easily find me at the Bryden University, just ask for me "Juliette smiled.
Maybe she can hold on to hope for a little longer.
