Panic attack

TW - panic attack, bullying

Y/N's age: 13

Overview: Y/N is getting bullied at school but doesn't tell their mother (Addie). But one morning Addie comes into their room and they're having a panic attack.

Y/N's POV:
It was an average Thursday and I was currently sat in maths class. I looked over at the clock for the millionth time; this lesson had been going on forever!

Finally the bell rang and I collected my belongings before scurrying out of the room.

As I was walking out of the classroom I felt someone shove me before my books flew out of my arms and onto the floor.

I looked up and saw the group of girls who had been picking on me for a few weeks now, Alyssa, Olivia and Darcie.

"What do you want?" I asked as I hastily gathered my items.

"You're in the way you fatty!" Alyssa, shouted at me.

"You on your way to eat your lunch?" Olivia questioned.

I nodded.

They all giggled before Darcie spoke up, "maybe you shouldn't, I mean look at the size of you!"

They all giggled once more before strutting away.

Man I hated those girls.

I walked down the hall to my locker so I could exchange my books for my lunch box.

After getting my lunch box, I walked past the cafeteria and into my favourite teacher's classroom.

"Ahh Y/N! Long time no see, how are we today?" Mr Sebastien exclaimed as I walked into his room.

"I'm okay," I answered as I sat down on the table next to his desk.

We ate our lunch in silence before I had to go to my last class which was history.

I hated history, I found it incredibly boring, not to mention that I was failing the class too. Every essay and exam paper I did on history, always came back with a '0%' on it.

And just to top it off, I had the class with Darcie - who happened to sit right next to me.

Just before the end of the day, our teacher handed us back our exams that we did last lesson.

Oh shit! I though I did alright on this one.

The bell rang and I collected myself before getting up to leave, that was before Alyssa stopped me.

"Did you seriously get an F on that paper? It was like the easiest thing ever! No wonder your mum is so disappointed in you," she sniggered before walking off.

I felt tears brimming my eyes, but decided that I wasn't going to let her words affect me. So I started walking home.

When I had gotten home, I realised that my mum wasn't home, so I just went up to my room and did some homework.

*TIME SKIP*

Addison's POV:
Y/N and I had just sat down to eat dinner together, but they were being quieter than usual.

"You okay darling?"

"Yeah I'm alright," they responded quietly, whilst avoiding eye contact.

"Are you sure, you're being very quiet?"

"I'm fine mum!" they exclaimed annoyed.

"I'm going to my room to get an early night," they mumbled.

"Okay goodnight hunny, I'll be in my room if you need me," I told them before they ran up the stairs.

I cleaned up after dinner and was about to go to sleep but checked on Y/N first.

They were fast asleep but had tear tracks running down their face: I needed to get to the bottom of what was happening.

Y/N's POV:
I woke up to the dreadful beeping from my alarm which I quickly turned off.

I slowly sat up to get ready but I suddenly felt a painful knot in my stomach.

I took a deep breath but soon enough my breathing was erratic and my chest was heaving.

My body felt like it was on fire and my hands were tingling.

I heard a knock on my bedroom door and tried to respond, but my throat was too dry for me to speak.

"Can I come in sweetheart?" I heard my mum ask.

When she didn't get a response, she slowly opened the door.

"Y/N? Baby what's wrong?" she asked soothingly.

I gripped my chest and shook my head.

"Okay, you're having a panic attack, just take a big deep breath in through your nose and release it out your mouth."

I tried to, but my breath got caught in my throat, which made me panic more.

"Okay darling come here," she came and sat down on my bed and pulled me into her arms.

I cuddled into her and out my head on her chest.

"Follow my breathing, in and out, in and out," she repeated whilst exaggerating her breathing for me to copy.

Mum stroked my hair back out of my face and kept breathing with me until I felt myself calm down.

"Do you want to tell me what happened?" She asked softly.

"These girls at school have been bullying me," I admitted, as tears swelled in my eyes.

"What? For how long?" She angrily asked.

"A few weeks, I'm not sure exactly," I replied.

"I'm so sorry darling, no one should ever treat my baby like that," she said as she pulled me closer, "how about we spend the day together today, just you and me? We can eat ice cream and watch movies."

"I would love that!"

"Great! I'll set up netflix. I'm going to ring up your school on Monday as well, alright?"

"Ok," I replied whilst grabbing my blankets.

"Come on then baby," mum said as she took my hand and dragged me into her room where we snuggled and watched movies all day.

"I love you momma."

"I love you too darling, more than you'll ever know."
