chapter 4: the changes

i put on my sapphire crown and suit and head down stairs for breakfast my mum was already in the dining room reading the paper waiting for all of us to get up so we could eat. she looked up at me and asked, "where were you sneaking off too last night?" I froze and thought "crap she knows where I was!" so I chose to lie and answered with "I wasn't any-where, mother I stayed in my room all night honest" she looked down at her paper and spoke "I heard you coming b ack into the palace so don't lie to me child!" shaking my head no I said to her "mum you're hearing things again did you take your pills today!? Dad says you can't keep forgetting to take them you know how you get when you don't have them so did you take them mum?!" she slammed her hands hard against the table and yelled "MY PILLS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU SNEAKING AROUND TO GOD KNOWS WHERE TO!" then my dad king Oliver crescent ran into9 the dining room "what's going on?" he asked as he saw my mother hysterical, so she screamed "YOUR BASTARD OF A SON WAS OUT ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT GOD KNOWS WHERE WITH GOD KNOWS WHO DOING GOD KNOWS WHAT AND HE WONT EVEN TELL ME WHERE HE WAS, WITH WHO AND DOING WHAT!" I stared at the floor because I couldn't bare to look at him with my mother yelling at me so my father walked over to me kneeling down speaking softly as he asked "what happened Kie?" I didn't answer until my mother stormed upstairs so my dad asked again, and I said, "I walked around the palace grounds for some fresh air" he smiled, and asked "who's the girl?" I froze confused and asked, "what girl?" he responded with "I'm not stupid son I was your age once upon a time ago so who's the girl from last night?" I stared at the wall trying not to break down and took a few deep breaths before I answered softly "dad I have something to tell you......but you aren't going to like it.." he looked to me with an eyebrow raised and told me reassuringly "Kieran you can tell me anything anytime it's ok I'm not your mother so please tell me" hesitantly I answered "dad....im aware It's illegal but I'm gay and I really would like to form a completely platonic relationship with Prince Xaneth Lycanto of the mirror realm...I'm fully aware that both of what I'm asking is illegal and could have me killed for them both but this is what I want I want to change the laws so being gay isn't illegal and so people can go between realms without being executed so everyone can be united as one community!" my dad sighed and pulled me into a tight hug and told me "we'll get it done it's only fair that we do because these laws were created by the humans centuries ago and it has triggered a few wars between us all but I want to put that al behind us in the past I will change the laws over when I can but if your mother finds this out she'll go ballistic but it's ok that you are gay Kieran but if your mother finds out shell go ballistic and keep you locked away in the  palace".
