A beautiful breeze flew over my head as I lay in the England sun. It was summer. I peered out of the window of my house, There she was. My little sister Sasha, who always gets the attention. Perhaps it's normal to feel this way towards a new sibling, but it's as if my family has forgotten me.
It was about eight in the morning. It was summer and everybody had begun their holidays. However, I could hear the cackles from round the corner. I peered through the cracks of our front gate and heard the sound getting even louder to the point where the noise blurred into screeching. I saw them. The three girls that would pass my house every day to get to the bus stop, always cackling about trivial gossip. One was short with dark hair and blonde highlights, who spoke of nothing but her fantasies of marrying some famous for nothing pop star, like thousands of other teenage girls. The second was a red head who seemed to have a new boyfriend every week. The last one was a blonde girl who always seemed to have the latest Apple product and bought every song on iTunes.
They came closer to my house. This time I had a battle strategy. I bent down so I was hidden. I heard them drawing nearer. When they were right outside the gate I jumped up and scared them. They screamed when they saw me and ran away from me. I chuckled quietly to myself when I watched them run away. That was the fastest I had ever seen those girls move.
"Jimmy!" screamed a high pitched voice. I turned around and and found my little sister running towards me. I suddenly felt her skinny arms squeeze my head. "Good morning Jimmy! I missed you!" she wailed. I tried to pull away from her grip which was tighter than I thought she could grip. I eventually managed to wriggle out. "We're going shopping now with Mummy and Daddy and Harry! I'm so excited! Do you want anything?" she said as she jumped up and down excitedly. I shook my head in response to her question.
"Bye Jimmy, we'll be back soon," said Dad as he shut the car door. the gates opened slowly and the car drove out of the drive way. The gates closed behind them. I leaned mt head against the little brick wall that divided our house from the neighbor's house.
I heard a noise coming from down the road. It sounded like wheels riding against the ground. I got up and peered over the wall. It was a young boy, about twelve years old, was riding his scooter up and down the road. When he got to the gate he stopped his scooter. The boy looked through the cracks in the gate. Our eyes met. He didn't scream or run away by just looking at me like everyone else did. This was different for me.
"Hello," said the boy. "I'm Miles," he said as he leaned his scooter against the wall. I ran towards the wall so I could see him better.
"I'm Jimmy," I replied excitedly.
We talked an played for hours. We played catch, we talked, and it was the best day of my life. Not only did I make a friend, but I felt closer to him than I felt to my family. It was the happiest I'd every been, but that moment was cut short.
"Miles! You have to come inside to eat!" called a girl. she was older than Miles, she was wearing a hoodie and seemed slightly confused about me and Miles.
"Bye Jimmy, I'll see you tomorrow," said Miles as he followed the girl. I watched them walking away.
"Who was that?" the girl asked Miles.
"That's Jimmy. He's really nice, and we're best friends," Miles replied.
I saw them go into a house that was only two doors down from me. I finally had a friend, and he'll come and visit me tomorrow, but my train of thought was cut short as my family had come back from their shopping trip. As soon as the car was parked in the drive way Sasha jumped out of the car and carrying lots of bags.
"Jimmy! Jimmy!" she screamed along with another hug which felt tighter. "Look what we got!"
"Sasha, you can show Jimmy when we're all inside," said Mum as she took other bags in. They had clearly spent a lot of money. We all went into the living room, except my big brother who went straight up to his bedroom. It's like he's not even part of the family.
"Sasha was trying to show me every single trinket and toy she got, but I ignored her. I went straight to bed, but I went to bed with the happy moments of me and my best friend.
