As the bell rang, signaling the start of our first class, I took my seat in anticipation. Professor Samuel, our charismatic instructor for the Human Skills class, entered the room with an air of enthusiasm. Today's topic was on ethical considerations in the field of law, specifically focusing on the art of debate. It promised to be an engaging discussion.
Before diving into the lesson, Professor Samuel encouraged open dialogue and debate among us, urging us to share our perspectives. Little did I know that this class would spark a passionate debate between me and Rosy, a classmate known for her strong convictions.
Professor Samuel began, "Today, we will explore the topic of ethical responsibility in the field of law, particularly in the context of promoting certain ideas or products. How should we approach situations where promoting something could have potentially negative consequences?"
Eager to contribute, I raised my hand, catching the professor's attention.
"Ah, Ella, please go ahead," Professor Samuel acknowledged, gesturing for me to speak.
Taking a deep breath, I began, "Thank you, Professor. When it comes to promoting ideas or products, especially in the field of education, we must consider the intention behind it. Education is about providing knowledge and understanding to empower individuals to make informed choices. In the case of discussing narcotic drugs, for instance, it is crucial to approach it from an educational perspective rather than an endorsement."
Rosy, sitting a few desks away, furrowed her brows and raised her hand. Professor Samuel nodded in her direction, giving her the floor.
With determination in her voice, Rosy stated, "I disagree, Ella. The promotion of narcotic drugs, even from an educational standpoint, can inadvertently glamorize and normalize their use. By discussing it in the classroom, we are inadvertently providing a platform that may attract curious minds towards experimentation."
I leaned forward, ready to counter her argument. "I understand your concern, Rosy, but we must remember that knowledge is power. I paused for a moment, considering her point. "I agree that we must approach this topic with sensitivity and caution.
