As William took the flower from his hand, Thomas saw the cheap, simple ring he had given him for their wedding over seven years ago. He was still wearing it.
Thomas had taken it off just before coming over, and now carried it on a necklace hidden inside his robes."Yes," he agreed softly, pulling out the chain and removing the ring from it. "We're still married." He slid the ring back on his finger, that had felt so bare without it over the past 24 hours.
William reached over to take his hand, tracing his thumb over the ring.
"You still have this," he said stunned.
"I never took it off... Until I came here," Thomas mumbled quietly.
William smiled one of those sweet, loving smiles Thomas had seen so rarely but loved so dearly.
"Good," he whispered as he pulled him into another kiss.
Thomas still wasn't able to comprehend that this situation was real. He had fantasized about being with him so many times, he was still afraid that all this was nothing but a beautiful dream from which he could wake up any moment, and thus wrapped his arms so tightly around him that he was afraid to hurt him.
The prince didn't seem to mind, and soon their tender kiss turned fierce and passionate as they were consumed by a seven-year longing for each other.Thomas had thought that perhaps things would be awkward between them after all these years, or that perhaps William would want nothing more to do with him, but clearly he couldn't have been more wrong.

William almost groaned into the kiss, blindly pushing aside the elaborate wedding tunic that seemed to be impossible to get rid of. Who wore such an irremovable object on their wedding, when after the ceremony they were supposed to consummate that marriage.
Something he and Thomas had never done, which William had dearly regretted over the past seven lonely years. Seven years during which he had saved himself for someone he hadn't ever thought he would be with.
Seven years during which he had dreamt of finally being in Thomas's arms at least a thousand times, but none of his fantasies came close to reality, which felt so much better than his wildest dreams.Thomas sat back on his heels in order to remove the coat, while William prepped himself up on his elbows, just to get a better look.
Unlike William, Thomas had no problem removing the garment, and soon pushed it to the side before proceeding to remove the white, simple shirt he wore underneath it in order to reveal his upper body, that was completely different from the way William remembered him. His skin was slightly darker, his shoulder's broader and his muscles more defined. It reminded William that the king had barely been 20 years old when they had wed, all those years ago.
Back then he had seemed so much older and grown-up than William had felt, but now he realized he had just been a boy. 20 suddenly seemed so young.
For the first time, he began to understand why Thomas had done the things he had done, and acted the way he had. They had only been children.Unlike now.
Hungrily, William ran his shaky fingers over his husband's warm skin, tracing the muscles he had fantasized so often about being able to touch.
The king leaned down toward him again for another kiss during which he pushed William's kitchen garments upwards and shoved his hands beneath them to caress around William's sides.
Breaking the kiss, William pulled his clothes over his head, throwing them to the side before lying back down against the hay that now scratched softly against his naked upper body. A hayloft was so not the place he had ever thought he would finally have his wedding night, but in that moment he couldn't get himself to care, and actually enjoyed the rough surface beneath him that was such a contrast to Thomas's wet tongue that now slid down his collarbone to his chest.
