Dylan silva

I've been the popular kids' quiet best friend my whole life.

I liked it, I didn't know a lot of people but they knew me because of my best friend Max. I didn't like having many friends and everyone understood that except for,

April Lee.

The most talkative annoying girl on earth.

Ever since kindergarten, she has made it her mission to be friends with me. No matter what I did to get her away she kept trying.

And I tried a lot of things like, in the first grade I put a spider in her hair which she responded to by picking the spider up off her hair and simply saying "Aw, thanks Dylan'  and waddling away.

Oh and the next day she told everyone that she was keeping the spider as a pet and named it fluffy.

It's been like this every school year, me pushing her away and her trying to talk to me everytime she sees me. not to mention living in a small town. I was bound to see her at least once a week.

But this is all about to be over. And I wouldn't see her again, because I was going to a university four hours away from this crappy town.

I stood in my childhood bedroom which was half empty because it was all jammed in a small suitcase, I look around once more taking it all in before leaving it behind,

I slowly picked up my suitcase and brought it downstairs walking into the kitchen to see my mom holding my one-year-old sister Soleil.

I moseyed my way over to them behind the counter,

"Oh my baby I can't believe you are leaving me!" my mom sniffed while giving me a strong hug squishing Soleil in between us.

"Mom please it's 4 hours away, and you are literally squeezing Soleil to death right now." I wheeze

My mom was a really independent woman, my Dad left us when I was little. I know she is struggling but she keeps quiet for us.

Same thing with Soleils dad, I don't think my mom has very good taste in men.

She finally lets go of the hug and sits down at the kitchen table full of fruits and waffles,

"Here you go baby, last meal in the house," she says her eyes start tearing up again as she pushed me a plate full of waffles

"Ma, please I'll call you okay!" I rubbed my face and started munching on my waffles.

Soon enough it was time.

I got out the front door and the hot summer breeze hit my face. I picked up my suitcase and loaded it in the car as my mom watched me standing at the front of my car holding Soleil.

I closed the trunk and walked over to her, and gave her a long hug and pats on her back as she started crying, it was quiet and peaceful

I leaned back with my hands on her shoulder to look into her glossy eyes,

"Take care of yourself okay?" I whispered

I let go of her to pick up Soleil and held her for the last time before leaving,

I hopped into my jeep giving my mom one last smile as I disappeared off to university.

Leaving behind my family.

5 hours later I made it to Springfield University, I walked up to the dorm manager and got my keys, and slowly made it up the stairs.
