chapter 10- why not me?

it is the first day of camp and we finally woke up at the assigned cabins the teacher put us into, Unfortunately I was in a cabin with people I have not talk to before which made it very awkward

but it is okay! I'll get to know them soon. I got up from my bed and looked around the wood cabin the size of a shoebox literally

I grabbed my clothes and got ready in the bathroom and headed out, the girls I share the cabin with were girls from my art class.

Maya and lexi, they were pretty nice people as far as I know but we have never spoken. they were sleeping in their beds as I left the cabin to get some breakfast

I arrived at the 'cafeteria' they called it but it is just a bunch of picnic tables under a umbrella, there was only a few people up by now

I walked up to one of the tables and heard loud chatting? so I turn to look at where it was coming from because the voice was familiar, only to see

Dylan and another girl who I do not know we're talking and flirting

not only that. the girl was blushing.

I felt a pang in my heart and I immediately turned back and was walking back to my cabin

I went into the room and came face to face with Maya,

"Hey April, right?" she smiled at me, she had green eyes and dark black hair in a high bun and she is a very beautiful girl definitely.

"Mhm yea!" I replied with a sad smile

"What's up with you? seem a little down?" she furrowed her brow sitting on her bed next to the door

"Oh no! I'm okay everything is okay very well yep!" I put two thumbs up with a forced smile.

I probably look constipated gosh.

"alright then... wanna go get breakfast with me?" she questioned getting up and coming a little too close to me

"that would be amazing, let's go!" I replied back

I'm not doing it to make Dylan jealous. nope.
Yes I am omg how low can I go? this stupid liking Dylan is pointless! I need to move on

we walked in silence to the cafeteria, we got to one of the tables and I sat down

Maya sat down right beside me even though there was a lot of space on the round table

like literally nobody else was on the table, she turned to look at me and said with a smirk

"why have we never talked? you are so pretty"

I opened my mouth to respond when somebody else responded for me,

"Maybe cause you are boring and irrelevant Maya?" a familiar voice behind me said as she put a hand on my shoulder

I turn to look at Dylan with an angry face only to receive a smirk back. she dropped her hand from my shoulder and grabbed my hand

"come on let's go." she said with a monotone voice slightly pulling me off the table

"I'm sorry Maya! I'll talk to you later in the Cabin!" I told her as Dylan pulled me along with her

"No you won't." she grunted

"What is up with you Dylan? do you know her?" I finally stopped her from pulling me further into the woods

"Yes I know her she is my ex best friend." she muttered

"please don't talk to her."  she added on looking down at me with sad eyes

"Okay I won't don't worry." I responded back while pulling her into a hug.

then I remembered,

"who were you talking to this morning?" I looked at her with no emotion which is very hard for me to do I'm very expressive with my face!

"I dunno just some girl, she asked me for my number." she shrugged

"and you gave it to her?" I questioned her while squinting my eyes

"yes? I'm gonna start thinking you are jealous lee from the way you are looking " she giggled

"what!? no me? jealous? of what? whatever it's chill everything is chill let's go back to the group yup!" I started nervous rambling but my heart felt heavy knowing she gave her number to that girl.

the last day of camp

for the whole four days at camp everyday Dylan has spoken to the mysterious girl way more than me!

I have had the worst four days ever. and I couldn't even talk to Maya or the other girl in my cabin because they were out doing something else.

I was in a shitty mood as everyone was loading their bags on the bus, I had my wired earbuds in blasting music in a big sweater and black short

I got on the bus and sat all the way in the back alone.

for my suprise Dylan walked up to me and looked at me with a hurt face, and sat down next to me

I made eye contact with her and gave her a sad smile and went back to looking out the window listening to music

after 15 minutes of being on the road, Dylan pulled out my earbuds

"Lee you okay? I miss you and you are literally right next to me." she looked worried

"Yeah I'm fine. how are you?" I looked back at her

"good good." she sighed softly

"Did I do something wrong? you haven't been talking to me at all"

"I'm sorry Dylan I can't right now." I cleared my throat and looked away

a few minutes later I dozed off.
