Gabrielle P.O.V

the trees rustled in the wind and a soft breeze played with the wolf pups fur. A small group of them were rolling around on the fallen leaves, yelping in joy at being outside for the first time.
A bigger full grown wolf with a dark grey coat walks up to them an lets out low growl to get their attention. A total of 9 line up in front of him.

"All of you are old enough to shift completely" he began.

"And all of you are ready to be taught how to cooperate with your wolf. You and your wolf are separate beings that share the same body, you think differently, you act differently. Treat your wolf well and they will do whatever you ask, lend you their senses, their strength. Treat them poorly and they will take control turning you into a rouge, but that is just one way for that to happen" he looked at each individual pup as he spoke.

"shall we get started" he said with a Wolfish smile.

the pups that were growing restless at being still for so long howled eagerly is response.

"okay, every second pup is paired with the one to their left, get into your groups" he commanded.

I looked to my left, being the second and barked playfully at them, it was Marcus, the alphas son. He looked over to me and did the same.

"the first thing you all would have noticed" the alpha started again.

"Is that you are all able to talk to each other even in wolf form. That is because as a pack we are connected. You will learn later how to talk with non pack member wolves"

the pups were starting to fidget.

"when can we start mister Alpha?" one of the girls asked. A small chocolate brown pup with pitch black eyes

the alpha looked to her and replied "For your first training, you will go out to the woods and use your senses to find your way out. You will be in pairs and need to communicate and work together to complete this task"

He walked over to a bag behind him and took out a rag.
"today you will be using sight and smell. Each of you take turns smelling the rag, it will be at the end so you must follow its scent, when the sun has set go into the woods in your teams and take different paths"

One by one each of us smelt the rag before lining up again. With the sun dipping further in the sky, each of us faced the entrance to the woods.

"which way should we go?" I asked Marcus while jumping eagerly.

"Left, right, straight, In a circle" I yelled unable to control my excitement.

"we can't go in a circle" Marcus said in a 'matter of fact' voice.

"but I think we should go right"

the sun dipped down beyond the horizon and darkness consumed the sky. The alpha let out a howl.

"You have until sunrise. Begin!" he ordered and we ran.

"do you smell anything?" Marcus asked after about 30 minutes.

I lifted my snout to the sky and sniffed.

"Nothing this way" I responded

"Gah, this is taking forever" he complained.

"I know, I'm bored" I said as I plopped onto the ground to lie down, Marcus sat next to me.

"quick brake?" he questioned, turning his wolf head to the side.

"already on one" I responded playfully

we sat like that for a few moments before a breeze blew our way and I smelt a familiar scent on it.
