The sleep over

The next day was once more a school day and also the due date for your organization. You woke up a bit later than intended so you quickly grabbed the stuff you and lif would need to turn in for your organization and got dressed, you skipped breakfast subconsciously knowing you would regret that later but ignoring it for now in favor of slipping on your clothes grabbing your phone and slipping on your shoes before running out the door just barely making it as doc pulled up. You climbed in greeting lif and showing her some of the last-minute details you had added as well as discussing some of the ideas on how to make it better. Unlike the first time you rode with the girl, the car was full of laughter and discussions.

"You guys I recommend you put away whatever you got our back there we're about 5 blocks away from the school," Doc warned as you both put the papers back into your bag. You arrived at the school and began walking to your first class and eventually third period came and it was time to turn in the papers. You found yourself stalling outside the door clutching the papers, you had never been so scared to enter (f/s) before but it all of a sudden felt as though your legs wouldn't move it felt as though all that existed was that door and you and that door felt like the enemy. You were suddenly snapped out of it as you felt a hand on your shoulder and you heard a brash voice that had a hint of something you just couldn't place your finger on. You turned to see a shorter orange haired kid asking if you were ok? You assured him you were. You were secretly grateful for the distraction as you began talking, well- it was more of the boy whose name you learned to be heavy rambling on while you gave the occasional head nod or hum of understanding until he said something that suddenly made things make a lot of sense.
"And that's how I and dee fought off the dragon! We lost most of our beds though" he said mimicking an action of a sword with his hands. "wait wait wait! You know dee?" You asked now recognizing the familiarity that came with Heavy's voice. "Well, yea? Of course, I know him! He is my brother after all" he said before launching into a ramble about how Dee always expects him to knock but he doesn't knock himself. You kept talking for another minute or so before lif noticed you and caught your attention eventually dragging you into the room you had been dreading going in. Lif took over noticing your nervousness taking the papers and doing a good portion of the turning in process and explaining what the organization was to the teacher, she thankfully eventually released you both to go back to your seats.

As you both sat down you began to watch the others go up and pitch their ideas meanwhile lif got into her bag pulling out the book you had slipped in. She looked at it in confusion before opening the cover and finding the initials (y/I) inside the cover  you watched this happen and watched as she looks up at you in disbelief and confusion trying to pass it back to you, instead of taking the book you push it back towards her shaking your head. You watched as her eyes lit up as she began reading from the book in a giddy glee. You smiled looking at the girl as she got lost in the book. So while you got lost in the book you got lost in her silky black hair and her deep red almost maroon eyes. You smiled as you watched her face contort to shock and wonder as she read certain parts. You shook your head looking away before she could have the chance to notice your staring.

You rested your head in your arms allowing yourself to drift into a calm sleep. You woke when the bell let out its annoying ring but non the less you stood up and packed your things finally noticing just how hungry you are. Lif seemed to notice the discomfort on your face as she asked what was wrong. When you told her you were just a bit hungry she smiled and pulled out a chocolate snack bar setting it on your desk before she finished packing up and walked out. You smiled and ate the bar on the way to your next class very grateful for the snack to tide you over until lunch. During lunch, lif came and found you sitting with you and discussing the book you gave her and all the plot twists and surprises it already held even in just the second chapter. You both ate while you rambled. The rest of the day was mostly uneventful until the end of the day you both left together since you were headed to the same place and after the routine forgetting something and leaving once more you both walked the way to the shop passing several cool little spots on the way she explained it all the graveyard, the old new part of town, and so many more before you reached the store. She plopped herself down on her regular sofa while you headed to the back to change clothes and put your stuff in your lockers. Doc greeted you once you came out from the back just having finished up with a client when you walked out.

He had you come over while he finished ringing them up. He told you how to work the register and handle appointments should anyone come in looking to set one up he also told you how to work the phone as more often than not people called in to set up appointments instead of actually coming in to set them up. It was uneventful for all of 10 minutes before you heard a daaaaad from in front of you as a young girl ran into the back office. You heard lif scoff and stop you as you want to get up. "Don't bother she's fine" lif snarled out although you got the feeling it was more towards the young girl than yourself "Why not though I thought no one but you staff and doc could go back there though?" You asked genuinely confused. "She's my sister she's probably going to complain to Dad about something Mom won't let her do again," she said laying back on the couch and scrolling through what looked to be Tumblr on her phone. "Oh," you said as relaxed back down into the chair at the desk. The rest of your shift was uneventful as you mostly worked the register and swept, you sat with lif on your breaks laughing at whatever meme or joke scrolled across her phone.

Eventually, the end of your shift came and you made your way to the back changing and putting your stuff in your lockers. You heard the staff door open but didn't think much of it until you felt a tap on your shoulder. You looked up humming confusedly to see Lif smiling back at you. "Oh hey, lif!" You said smiling. "(Y/n)! So you know how we need to work on that project?" She asked excitedly. "Yea? We only have a week to create the sign and everything right?" You said a bit confused at the girl's enthusiasm towards the school project. "Yea! Well" she said dragging out the well, "I was wondering if you wanted to work on it at my place since we did it at yours last time!" She asked basically rocking on her heels. "Sure!" You replied with enthusiasm, "Just let me go home and grab some clothes to change into I've kinda been in these all day and wanna change out of them." "Alright," lif said smiling. "Aye, you guys ready to go?" Doc called out from the front, "yea but we're gonna grab some stuff from their place real quick Dad!" She yelled back, "I can just drive you guys." He said in response. " no it's ok we can walk!! It's semi-nice out for once!" You heard an ok and the jingle of the front bell as Doc and the young girl whose name you had learned to be Micky on your break from lif walk out the door.

You gathered the rest of your things before walking out the back door and locking it up as you left. You both walked to your house noticing how the air became almost damp but you both ignored it in favor of laughing and joking until you reached your house you went in and changed grabbing a few things before walking out seeing lif on the couch reading the book you lent her. She looked up and for a second you swear you could see her face come to something of surprise before returning to her normal happy expression. You both left the house making sure to lock up before you left. You both walked back to her house the air growing damper and damper with every step, her house was a big light blue house with a white trimming and steps leading to a porch freshly painted in white. "We gotta take the side steps, we just painted the front porch, and the paints still wet" she said grabbing your wrist and pulling you around the side of the house.

You entered and the smell of sugar and vanilla hit your nose it smelled comforting like being wrapped in a big warm blanket. "Mama I'm home!" Lif called out slipping off her shoes you doing the same after seeing her do so. "Alright supper will be on the stove soon can you- oh whos your friend?" She asked after seeing you walk in with lif. "This is (Y/n) their here to work on that project I was telling you about." "Nice to meet you (Y/n)." She said while rushing around the kitchen washing and putting away dishes. "Nice to meet you too," you said. "Well we'll be in my room working on the project mama please tell Micky not to bother us." And with that, you walked with lif back to her bedroom a dark room with purple walls a bed with drapes over the edge, the floor was hardwood with a black soft rug in an odd blobby shape and a bean bag. Various posters and pictures were decorated the walls along with some art and various other items of furniture decorating the room. The room smelled of black cherry and perfume.

"Welcome to my own paradise," Lif said flopping down on her bed. She sat up and motioned to the beanbag which you sat on. "So shall we start on the project?" She said, and so you did you both worked on it for around half an hour before Micky poked her head into the room. "Hey Mom said a big storm just started, she doesn't want either of you walking home or dad driving, she said (y/n) can stay the night if they'd like to." Lif looked at you practically beaming waiting for your answer. You nodded and you both spent the night laughing and dancing and just having fun. You both eventually fell asleep at one in the morning so glad it was Friday.
