Chapter 71

Vegas's POV

I feel like I am floating.

Floating in a black abyss of nothingness, weightless.

I feel pressure on my chest and several rogue hands are n my body.

I want to push them away, but my limbs feel like they weigh a ton.

I can't move even a muscle no matter I try.

I try to clench my jaw, but even that doesn't seem to be possible.

Am I dying? Is this what death feels like? Eternal darkness?

Will I never see the light again?

But that can't be right, people have always told me I will go to hell after I die and this doesn't feel like hell.

Then am I alive?

A whirlwind of thoughts are going on in my head when I hear it.

His voice.

My angel, my Pete's voice.

His smiling face comes floating in my brain and I feel my lips twitch into a smile.

I hear a gasp "Vegas! doctor-" Pete continue to say somethings but I start losing focus, losing the sense of hearing or feeling.

My ears twitch when I hear the heart wrenching sound of Pete's sobs.

He is crying again.

'You are the reason for those tears. If you could just open your eyes useless fucker' a voice in my head says and I try.

I try my hardest to open my eyelids.

But to no vail it feels like they are glued together.

I try to move my hand so that I can atleast hold his hand and tell him that I am ok.

I feel my fingers twitch but my hand doesn't move.

I frustration I try to yank my hand but it only results in a increased thumping in my chest and a machine start beeping wildly.

"W-what is happening!? Vegas!? What is happening!? Nurse!! Doctor!!!" I hear Pete's frantic screaming and then some commotion.

I try to unglue my lips and tell them I am ok but my breathing gets caught and I start spiralling into nothingness again.

"HUH TELL ME? HOW MANY MORE DAYS LIKE THIS PETE!? YOU NEED TO REST! STAYING WITH VEGAS IS NOT GONNA HEAL HIM FASTER!" I hear a loud voice screaming.

"Khun I want to stay with him when he wakes up" Pete's voice reaches my ears and they twitch at how small and tired Pete sounds.

"WAKES UP!? SO YOU ARE GOING TO WAIT FOR HIM TO WAKE UP FOR HOW LONG MONTHS? YEARS?" The loud voice screams again.

"Yes Khun" Pete's whispers.

"THIS IS MADNESS!! YOU HEAR ME? PURE MADNESS! HE MAY NEVER EVEN WAKE UP AGAIN! HE IS AS GOOD AS DEAD ANYWAYS-"

"KHUN NO ENOUGH!" Pete screams all the previous tiredness gone from his voice.

"Just because I am not saying anything doesn't mean you can spew whatever you want! I am no longer your bodyguard. I already resigned but you refuse to accept my resignation and won't even let me live in peace! Whatever I do is none of your business anymore"

"I will decide what is my business and what is not. You will come with me. I will lock you up if that's what I need to do" the other voice says .

And suddenly panic seizes my heart.
