Let's just say my sleep that night wasn't so great. My mind kept wandering off to Solstice. Why shouldn't I be attracted to her, like my dad said? She seemed okay to me. Did gangs always follow her around or something? I kept asking questions like that, knowing I couldn't answer myself.

Anyway, I woke up in the morning with the same I-don't-want-to-go-to-school attitude. I trudged down the stairs, still half-asleep. It was like this every morning. I'd grumble things like "School was invented to torture me." While my dad cooked.

He wasn't exactly the best cook ever, but it wasn't like I could do any better. He'd only began cooking after my mom died when I was five. Dad didn't think that hiring others to cook for us would be good for me, since I was 18 and would be moving off to whatever college that was desperate enough to take me in soon, so I'd need to learn that I can't have people serve me.

I plopped down on my chair and rested my head on the table. I watched as Dad dumped some scrambled eggs onto a plate, then dropped a pancake next to it. I closed my eyes for one second, but was suddenly started by the sound of Dad growling, "Ow, God damn it!"

I glanced up at him, "Aw, did the doctor get a burn?"

Dad rolled his eyes, placing the plate in front of me, "It's fine. Now eat up. You don't want to be late for school, do you?"

I said before shoving a spoonful of food into my mouth, "Yeah, 'cause my one friend will die of boredom if I don't arrive on time."

Funny, how rich guys on TV were surrounded by friends, and I only had a single friend named Travis. At least I can say I'm not that stereotypical jerk.

Dad smirked, sitting down across from me, "You never know. You could make a new friend every day."

Then I suddenly remembered Solstice went to my school. Maybe I could find out what was wrong with her! I smirked, chewing my food at the same time.

Dad frowned, studying me, "What are you thinking, Tristian?"

I blinked, "Hm? Oh, er, I'm thinking about how awesome this food tastes! Yum. Sure is better than the burnt bacon you made last week." I smirked again.

He rolled his eyes, "Ha ha. Very funny."

"I know, right? I'm freaking hilarious. Hardy har har." I said, suddenly awake.

Dad asked, laughing, "Hardy har har? What's that?"

"My new laugh, duh. Seriously, man, get with the times. Don't your patients ever say that after you tell them they are gonna die? You know, laugh in the face of death and stuff?"

"Um, no. I'll be very concerned if they do, though."

"Well, if I'm put into the hospital, I'll be sure to say that." I promised.

Dad laughed, "Well, okay then. You better get going. You're gonna be late."

I stood up, going over to dump my plate into the sink before grabbing my bag and keys.I swung the front door open and stepped outside. Before slamming the door shut, I yelled loud enough for dad to hear me, "Tristian Riley has left the building!" I heard dad laugh as I closed the door.

So I hopped in my car, grinning when I found that 'I Need A Doctor' by Eminem was playing. I freaking loved that song. Dad said it wasn't all that great. So the doctor didn't like the song called 'I Need A Doctor'. Go figure. I mean, who doesn't like Eminem? He's kinda like the rap version of Taylor Swift. ONLY because he sort of understands people. Well, except for the fact a couple of his songs are all about drugs, which are a HUGE no-no.

Well, any ways, I was driving in my flipping awesome car, almost to the high school.  I watched the trees basically fly by. In a couple minutes, I was in the parking lot of high school.
