I was forcing down my sandwich when Dad came home from work. It was half an hour until I would leave to Solstice's place.

Dad looked at me and rose an eyebrow, "Slow down. Are you starving or something?" Then he studied me, "Are you going somewhere?"

I was wearing a blue button-up shirt and jeans with black converse high-tops. As usual, my hair was still slightly messy, but I never bothered to comb my hair. I mean, I'm a dude! Most don't comb their hair if they don't have to. Yeah, I changed. So what? I slurped down some more soup before nodding.

He asked while taking off his coat, "Where?"

I said, "Sol-I mean Travis'. We've got a Science project we should work on."

"About what?"

"Er...Sciency stuff!"

Dad sighed, "Tristian...You may be a good liar to other people, but I've known you your entire life. I can tell when you're lying."

"I'm going to Solstice's place. Just to talk. Her brother told me what's wrong. Are you sure there's no cure?"

He nodded, "That's what we assume. It could take years to find a cure. She doesn't have that long."

I sighed and stood up. I washed my bowl while trying not to get my clothes dirty.

Dad asked, "If you're only going there to talk, why are you dressed all fancy?"

I turned to him, "Can a teenage boy get dressed without it being assumed anything else? But seriously, I don't really have a reason. That's a lie, actually. I was thinking maybe she could hang out with me. That's fine with you, right? Tomorrow there's no school so..."

"I thought I told you that you shouldn't bond with her."

"Yeah, I know. But I'd rather make her last months the best of her life."

"Tristian...That's the most grown up thing I've heard you say through out your eightteen years of living."

I smirked, "I know right? What's happening to the immature me I've grown to love? Hey, what time is it?"

Dad looked down at his watch, "Ten minutes 'till six."

"Is it alright if I go now?"

He nodded, so I grabbed my car keys and got into my car. I grinned. I was also a little nervous, I guess. If she said she didn't want to be around me, then I'd have to obey, like I promised Jason. But I already knew what I'd say. Heck, I'd even rehearsed it to myself in the mirror until I memorized it. Yeah, it's kinda weird, but I'm like that.

I followed the directions I'd printed off from Google Maps. She didn't live that far. I wouldn't walk there, but it was better for my car. I stopped my car when I was in front of a medium-ish sized house. Well, it might've been considered big to some people, but when you're rich, you have huge houses and compare your own house to every one elses. I knew that this was her house by one simple thing: The white Jeep. I parked and hopped out of the car. I cleared my throat as I strolled up to the door.

Hesitantly, I knocked on the door, rocking back and forth on my heels. I straightened my shirt a little as I waited. Ugh, I feel like I'm waiting for my freaking date.

I looked down at my feet before I heard the door swing open. I looked up to find Jason wearing a black shirt and jeans, like earlier. He studied me with a curious expression.

I shrugged, "I came."

Jason nodded, "Yes you did." He stepped to the side, "Come in."

So I stepped inside and glanced around. I heard Solstice yell "Who's here?" from up the stairs. I could see the stair case where I was standing.
