Chapter 8 - What She's Fighting For

*Amy Rose POV*

I have finally made my decision. I know it won't be easy telling the others, but I have multiple reasons as to why I've come to my decision. I already texted everyone to tell them to come here because I have some news; I just have to get some light snacks ready. I made cookies, apple slices with caramel dipping sauce, and mini chilidogs. As soon as it read 11:30 AM, the time I asked for my friends to come over, the bell rang. I already have an idea on who it is. I answer the door, and with no surprise Sonic is at the door.

"Hey Ames."

"Hi Sonic."

I let him in. Soon, Shadow, Cream, Tails, and Knuckles come. We all ate snacks and waited for Rouge and Sally to come. Almost 5 minutes later, the doorbell rang, and Sally and Rouge came in.

"You guys are late."

"We are fashionably late Knuckie. There's a difference."

"Your still late."

"Whateves. Besides, me and Sally went shopping to get Amy a dress as a surprise."

"Oh wow, thanks you guys!"

"No problem Amy. I got you the blue headband, makeup, and shoes, and Rouge got you the dress."

"Oh wow. This must of cost-"

"No matter about the cost darling. We got you this as a gift."

"Thank you guys. I mean it."

I give Sally and Rouge a big hug before they sit on the couch and devour the apple slices and caramel. We have a light conversation as we ate, and everyone was having a good time. When all the snacks were devoured, I coughed lightly to kindly alert that it was time to give my news.

"I know I've been taking a while to decide whether or not I'll come back to being a freedom fighter, and-"

"So what's the answer Ames? We need you on the team, it's not the same without your hammer!"

"That's the thing Sonic. I...I'm not coming back."

Silence filled the room. I look at their shocked faces with me wondering if I made the right call after all.

"WHAT! But Ames-"

"If it's because of Sonic I'll strangle him until he gives you a good apology!-"

"Sal that's a bit dramatic-"

"Don't you dare call me overdramatic! You broke Amy's heart because you didn't have the guts to tell her no. You nearly lost her friendship. We nearly lost Amy completely."

"Sally it's not because of Sonic. He already apologized and we are good friends. It's because I'm not skilled enough. I keep being a constant danger sign to our team because I'm weak. That's why I keep getting captured. That's why Sonic always has to save me. If I am ever to come back, I need to become a good enough fighter to not put myself in danger. Also, I really only became a freedom fighter to chase Sonic and be friends with you guys. Not to save the world. Not to be a hero. And it's selfish. Lastly, I want to spend time with you guys when you defeat Eggman. I...wasn't the best at trying to maintain friendships. I also want to make other friends so I don't depend on you guys for the rest of my life. I have a job, bills to pay, and I'm currently re-decorating my house. I don't have time to be a freedom fighter. Not now, at least."

They nodded with sad understanding. I tried to smile reassuringly at them, but the once joyous and energetic mood disappeared, and and got replaced with sadness and shock. They all gave me a hug, and were about to say something when of course, Eggman decided to attack. I wished them luck, and they all left my house. I knew I made the right decision, it just wasn't the easy choice.

I know I said 5 (4 not including this part) more parts, buut that wasn't the entire truth. There's 2 more chapters, then a credit chapter, and an announcement. And that is the end. Sorry to disappoint you guys, but I'm currently working on a High-School AU! After that, I might decide to do a sequel to this story by jumping into the future 3 years and make it into a Sonamy story, but that is still yet to be decided. In the meantime, I will try my best to finish this book this week, and release the prologue and two chapters of my new book on Friday.
