The winds shook the walls of your broken home. The windows vibrated with the snow that fell around the woods. You were bundled up in an outfit from the outside world: a plain black long-sleeve shirt, jeans, and winter shoes. Nothing like your normal wear; it's more modern and more form-fitting. Your father would cry for your lost way but these clothes are better to move in than the usual wear.

You've been stuck in this broken, splintering house ever since Miranda found the Mold. She wandered into a cave to die after her daughter died from the Spanish Flu and the Mold sang a song to her to tempt her into fusing herself with it and becoming one. When she came back from the cave, she used the Mold only for good, helping the villagers when they were sick and needed help, your mother included. Your mother then chose to go along with Miranda's research and lost herself to the aggression that lived in her heart.

The door being pounded on brought you out of your downtown train and it caused you to hide behind an overturned table. Glancing at a shiny object, you could see the reflection of a man entering your home. He was in dirty blue jeans, a grey hoodie, a green jacket, and brown shoes. Definitely an outsider, you decided. His dirty blond hair was tossed and wet, probably from the snow. He wasn't dressed for the winter.

"Who's there?!" The man shouted, making you flinch back to your hiding spot, tears in your eyes.

"Do-don't shout!" You said as loud as you could, which was barely above a whisper. The man slowly walked around the corner, his gun ready to shoot if needed but pointed down and away from you. You looked up at him and relaxed. He was human and he was safe, safer than whatever was outside. "W... What do you w-want?"

"I just wanted somewhere safe to rest- I've been running around, back and forth, for hours. This house looked the safest," The man said, holstering his gun, "I'm Ethan Winters."

"(Y/N)," You said, giving a small smile, "This is my home... Are you here for Rosemary?"

"What do you know?!" Ethan asked loudly, dropping to his knees to get closer to you. You backed up, your eyes wide, scared of him. He took a deep breath and sighed gently. "I am so sorry- that's my daughter and I- I don't know. I've been struggling since my wife was killed, my daughter got kidnapped, and I just... I don't know. I haven't been okay in a little while."

"No... No, I get it... My mother became one of those wolf things, and my father had to shoot her... And, then he shot himself and I've been lost since..." You told him, laughing a little. You were confused about how you could open up to him like it was nothing but a joke. "Rosemary... Miranda has her in- in these flasks. She's still alive- she's healthy- but she's been crystalized and taken apart- the Mold is powerful like that."

"I know all about that damn Mold. H-how did they take her apart if she's still alive?" Ethan asked, sitting down and placing his back on the table.

"I don't understand the Mold completely but it's like Rosemary is in a coma without the risks. Like- like ice cubes- you can break an ice cube in half but with a little work, you can freeze them back together," You said, scooting closer to him. Though whatever Miranda did with the Mold scared you awfully, you were just as fascinated with it. "It's like modern-day magic."
