"Turn it down, Y/N!" My brother, Jayden, came trudging into my room, invading my personal space. I was spread out on the bed with my music on. It wasn't even loud, our walls are just thin...

"What do you want, kid?" I sit up from my bed and rub my eyes. "Can you turn it down...please?" Jayden asks, giving me puppy eyes. I stand up, rubbing my eyes in the process. "How could I say no to you?" I laugh lightheartedly and turn it off, completely.

"What's your deal, little guy? Have a girl your trying to impress?" I chuckle at first, then give him a stern look. His face turns red automatically, "NO! Wrong I..." He pauses and then continues, "Yeah...BUT DON'T TELL HER!" Good God, he sounds so much like me when I found my first love interest. I guess we really are siblings after all.

Smiling and laughing I say, "I don't even know who she is, but I wouldn't dare interrupt my brother and his date," Smirking, I push him out my door and close it. I then heard his stuttering and failing to argue and then footsteps fading back into his room.

"Oh boy. Maybe I should go downstairs?" I am so worried about how my parents will react. I'm just going to hesitate for- Creak

Yup, you have to distract yourself. Sometimes it's the only way you can do something. I step out of my room and walk down the hall, into the kitchen. "Hey mom." My mom pulls me into a hug. "I don't get to see you often, you are always in your room."
She says, worried and happy at the same time.

"Yeah, I've just been busy, I guess." I heard a scoff from the couch. "Busy doing what? Your job?" I shoot daggers at my stepdad and turn back to my mom, meeting her guilty gaze. "No, but I have been looking for one." I squeeze out of my throat, making sure he heard.

"Anyway, busy with trying to put myself together." I finish, but as soon as I do, I hear my loud and basic ringtone come from my room. "Be right back, I might have to take this." I scramble around my room and find that my phone is on my bed. I look at the callers name and smile, pressing 'Accept.'

"You might want to come to my house, I NEED to take you somewhere!" The familiar voice of my best friend, Maddie, bursted out into my ear. "Can you at least tell me what it is?" I ask suspiciously. "Nope! Come over right now. I would come over to yours, but I'm too busy preparing!" Maddie practically screams while I hear stumbling and a zipper in the background.

"Girl, what are you on about?" I sigh almost dramatically and then say, "Okay, I'll be there soon." I hung up, slightly annoyed. No, I can't get upset. I'll just continue my day and meet up with Maddie at her house.

I change my clothes and pick out a pair of shoes that match the outfit. I grab my phone and walk out of my room. "Maddie wants me to go out with her, she never told me the reason. Can I go?" I already know the answer since I'm already 'dolled' up. "Yes, honey. Just...be safe." My mom smiled at me and hugged me close to her.

Me and my mom exchanged our 'I love yous' and I went on my way. A 15 minute walk, I have no clue what Maddie wants and I'm running on a cup of water and gum as my fuel. Sounds awesome, doesn't it?

I start running. Running for my life. Why? No reason. It's fun and I want to feel alive for once, something I haven't felt in a long time. Oh, yes, I finally reached Maddie's house. Good grief, next time she needs to pick me up in her car.

"Knock knock, Maddie." I say, knocking on her door. It swings open and Maddie steps out with a small backpack on. "Are you ready to go? You look smokin' hot by the way." She bites her lip and looks me up and down.
"Calm down before you make me act up." I moan. Maddie, you changed my humor so much. God.

We both laugh as Maddie drags me to her car after shutting and locking her door. I get in the passenger side as she gets in the driver's side. "So, where are we going?" I ask to break the somehow awkward silence. "You'll see! But I'm not telling you until we get there." She bursts. She always had a loud voice...
