jade
jade had been dropping subtle hints for the last couple of months, attempting to explain to her girlfriend the concept of marriage. however, unfortunately for her, vriska didn't seem to notice.
at first, vriska had been confused.
"so, we get to be the wriggler's lusii? you humans have some weird customs!"
she had laughed, and smiled at jade before noticing the slightly nervous expression on her face.
"hey. if you're worried that i don't like your human rituals, then you don't have a reason to. all the alien stuff aside, you know i can adapt to that. i am trying to be nicer, you know."
her expression had relaxed, and she had looked a little sheepish for a second before smiling at jade. she had told her how cute she looked when she was nervous, and had gone off to sleep, as it seemed that jade had forgotten about the time.
they had gone to bed, and vriska seemed happy. but jade couldn't stop thinking about it. needless to say, she didn't have the best sleep that night.
similar things had happened over the course of the next months, and jade had started to put aside money for a beautiful ring she had seen in a nearby store. she knew vriska would love it, despite it being a symbol of such a permanent bond. what she was hoping was that vriska would want to get married in the first place.
she had softened to the idea over the last couple of months, and they'd had plenty of conversations surrounding their relationship. it seemed like something so scary to talk about, the threat of a miserable married life looming over their heads. but jade held out hope that she would accept. maybe.
vriska
jade had been nervous these past couple months. she had started mentioning this human ritual she called "marriage." vriska didn't quite understand it originally, but after realising how important it was to jade, she asked june to help. she liked talking to june, after all, and she figured that her matesprit's sister would have a great perception of this strange ceremony.
after talking with june, she had gained a better idea of this strange human bond. it took her a while, and more than a few conversations with june, to understand what it was and to accept it as something she could take part in.
and eventually, it seemed nice to her. she ended up liking the idea of marriage, and thought often about seeing her matesprit in a wedding dress. sometimes jade would catch her, lost in thought with a small smile on her face, and ask her what she was thinking about. she wouldn't reply, choosing instead to kiss the girl in front of her, and appreciate the wonder in front of her for a while. jegus, she was lucky.
she could tell those times confused jade a little, but she didn't mind. she knew that, eventually, what they had would transform into something deeper. and truthfully, she didn't mind.
jade
jade had finally saved up enough to buy the ring. in truth, she was terrified of vriska's potential reaction, but she had decided that the worst thing that could happen was rejection.
...right?
she had gone to the store with rose to finally buy it, talking through the tons of post-proposal situations she could be in, and, being the good friend she was, rose had finally helped her calm down about the whole thing.
she had the perfect place set up. she had a small garden built behind their house that not even vriska knew about. it was tiny, but it had the perfect amount of flowers and vegetables and flora in general to be perfect for her. it seemed to jade like it was a little piece of heaven, that she'd snatched from the gods above and hidden behind her house.
