Antoine clicked Mei-Mei's contact on his phone. His heart was beating a million times a minute as he brought his shaking finger to the call button.

He heard the rings and he could already feel his voice getting caught in his throat.

"Hello?" He recognized Mei-Mei's voice straight away.

"Hello? Mei-Mei."

"Antoine, is this you?"

"Yes it is. Mei-Mei, can I meet up with you somewhere?" He asked, heart beating painfully against his chest.

"Umm... Yeah sure. Lemme just ask my parents for permission and to drop me off."

"I just need to talk to you." He said as vaguely as possible.

"Okay. The breakfast diner downtown next to the big bookstore is good?"

Antoine nodded and said yes into the phone microphone. He hung up after he told Mei-Mei he'll be at the diner in 45 minutes.

Antoine got up to change, slipping on straight legged jeans and an Adidas T-shirt.

"Hello?" He said, picking up his phone after it rung.

"Antoine, can you give me a ride?" She asked, "My parents gave me permission to go but they can't drive me because they have work."

"I'll come right now." He told her.

"Okay. Thanks Antoine, see you soon."

He loved how she said his name with an accent.

Did Demi say it with an accent too?

Antoine left the house after styling his newly dyed hair. He remembered the directions to Mei-Mei's house and set out. It wasn't even 15 minutes before he was pulling up in front of the house to see Mei-Mei sitting on the porch.

She looked up at him and stood up from her chair, walking to the car.

Antoine couldn't help but be amused at how delicate the sixteen year old was.

"Thank you for picking me up." She said as she clipped on her seatbelt.

"No problem."

The pair sat in a comfortable silence until Antoine stopped in front of the diner in the bustling city.

They walked into the diner together. Antoine was happy when he saw that it was quite.

The waiter led them to a small booth in the corner.

"I will be right back." He said quietly, matching the quiet scene of the diner.

The waiter came back rather quickly and took both of their orders, a huge stack if pancakes for Antoine and 2 waffles for Mei-Mei.

"So... What's up?" The young woman asked.

"How've you been doing?" Antoine responded with a question.

"I'm getting there. Still getting used to the empty half of my room."

Antoine sighed, "I'm sorry." He squeaked.

"Don't be. We knew it was coming. We were prepared. It still hurts though."

Antoine felt a pain in his chest for Mei-Mei.

"I still want to go through her stuff." Mei-Mei said quietly.

Antoine didn't know what to say. He's been finding himself at a loss of words for the last few days.

"Do you want to visit her?" Mei-Mei asked.

Antoine was stunned at the question. Was he even ready for that yet? He nodded.

Mei-Mei finished her waffles while Antoine finished eating his pancakes.

They left a tip and made their way back to the car. Antoine saw a hard if white flashes from his right hand side. He immediately grabbed Mei-Mei's hand and crushed her to his chest. She cuddled her head into his shoulder, hiding her face as the paps continued to take pictures of them.

Antoine and Mei-Mei both made it to his car and ducked in quickly. Antoine thanked himself mentally for buying a car with tinted windows.

"Where to?" Mei-Mei asked, breathing heavily.

"Do you still want to visit her?" He questioned.

Mei-Mei nodded solemnly. Antoine made his way to the closest flower shop and then to the cemetery.
