The past week had been fairly normal other than the fact my mind had been primarily focused on our upcoming trip. I had been slowly packing everything I might need.
It's now Thursday evening and I was feeling a mix of excitement, anxiety and curiosity. I set my alarm for 7:15 before taking my medication and getting in bed.I awake the next morning to my alarm blaring. I slowly sit up and turn it off. As I blink my eyes, a surge of excitement shoots through me. Today was the day.
I get up and take a shower. I brush my hair before getting dressed. I decide on a tight black t-shirt and a skirt that fell just above my knees. For the next hour and a half of so I nervously waited around. At about 9:20, I heard a swift knocking at my door. I quickly rush to open it. I see Tamino smiling in front of me.
« Salut. » He says.
« Salut. » I respond in an embarrassingly meek voice.
« Es-tu prêt? » He asks.
« Je dois juste prendre mes affaires. »
« D'accord. » He respond.
I quickly turn around and grab my suitcase. I return to where I stood a moment before. I walk through the door and lock it behind me.
« Allons-y. » He says. I simply nod.
The drive to the airport lasted about 35 minutes. Traffic was specifically good, which was surprising. Getting through security took forever, as always. By the time we got through, it was a little before 10. We found our terminal just to have an idea of where it was before we decided to wander around a little bit. What else is there to do when you have two free hours in an airport?
We made it back to the terminal at about 11:25 and waited to board. Tamino looked at me with a smile before saying, « Je suis excité pour ça. »
I look back at him. « Moi aussi. »
And, for what felt like an eternity, the two of else just stared into each other's eyes like no one else mattered, like it was just the two of us.Shortly after we began to board. When we sat down and I lightly chuckle. The last time I was on a plane was two years prior when I was leaving everything to go to college, scared and lonely. How everything had changed.
The flight was pretty short, just under two hours. I spent most of my time talking with Tamino about various topics, reading a book and taking quick glances out the window. When we landed it was a little after 2:25. A surge of excitement surged through me again as the two of us left into the airport.
