Chapter 2 Training begins

(Morning came)

Yami met with Kosuke outside the cabin "follow me" Kosuke said, leading Yami a little while away from the cabin. There was a massive dark building sized box in the woods. walking up to it Kosuke said "go in '' Kosuke then walked into the box to which it absorbed him. "What the? Did.. that box just eat him?" Yami said with a fearful expression. Suddenly Kosuke's head appeared halfway out of the box, making Yami scream in fear. "Shut your blabbering and get in here!!" He shouted. Yami complied, walking into the box with a weirded out look on his face. Inside it was pitch black. Yami raised his hand to his face but still couldn't see it. "i am a trainer. My job is to teach new swordsmen. There are many other trainers, each one is different, they all educate their students using their own methods. to complete your training and join the demon slayer core you will have to survive the final selection process on Mount Fujikasane and i decide if you undergo that challenge or not, You see for this training you will have to survive 2 hours in here "huh, survive!?" Yami shouted, concerned. Kosuke walked out of the box after saying "good luck" leaving Yami standing there for seconds in confusion before saying "this is stupid" he walked forward trying to find a door when a large rock came out of nowhere hitting him directly in the face. He stumbled back in pain and regained his composure. 'That's the training. I need to avoid the attacks for 2 hours and survive, alright I can do this, but it's so dark I can't see a thing and now come to think of it it's been pretty hard to breathe in here, how can i dodge?" a log suddenly hit Yami in the back "shit" He said as he fell to his hands and knees. He forced himself up saying "come on, focus. FOCUS" Yami closed his eyes and waited for several seconds before saying "there" Yami quickly sidestepped a rock, he then jumped over an incoming log landing on top of it as he said "if it's dark then my eyes are useless so i might as well close them to heighten my other senses" suddenly from out of nowhere a knife flew at Yami, he tried to dodged but was too late, the knife slightly cut his right arm tearing his shirt as it flew past him. "damn!, is he trying to kill me?" Yami thought as he dodged a couple more rocks and logs "ok I think I'm getting the hang of this" suddenly he got hit in the back of the head with a log, forcing him to the ground. "dammit i let my guard down"

(2 hours later)

Kosuke was in his cabin writing at his desk while Mara was sleeping. He looked up as he spoke "well I think it's about time i go get that boy" then suddenly Yami pushed open the door, blood was running down from his forehead and he was out of breath "oh you made it, you were able to survive, good, I'll double the time tomorrow" "WAIT DOUBLE!!?? ahh, ok I'm gonna go get some rest then." Yami said, stumbling his way over to the other room. "Not so fast, go do 1000 pushups." Yami bashed his head through the wall, creating a loud crash." "HEY, YOU PUT A HOLE IN MY WALL!!." Kosuke Shouted. "Accident" Yami said back, not taking his head out from the wall. "THE HELL IT WAS!! *sigh* anyway, your body is weak so get stronger ""isn't this a bit much?" Yami said, pulling his head out, to face him. Kosuke got up and walked over to Yami, He put his right hand on his left shoulder and said "listen, there's 2 years until final selection and in that time i'm going to break you day after day until you're ready, got that" "ugh, yes sir" Yami nervously replied. He forced himself outside and started doing push ups. After a while Yami crawled inside the cabin with a pleading voice asking "am I done?" "For today, yes," Kosuke replied, still writing at his desk. Yami immediately fell asleep on the floor. Kosuke smiled, he then stood up walking over to Him, he picked him up and brought him to his room, he then laid him on his bed and threw the blanket over him. "You're showing promise Boy, I hope you can keep it up." He said.

(After weeks of training in the box and different workouts)

Yami woke up one day and went to go outside, when he opened the door Kosuke was there and he said "today you will be training with a sword" "oh really?" "Of course, what's a demon slayer without their sword?" Yami slowly raised his hand when Kosuke said "Don't answer that." Yami slowly put his hand back down. "You see, a sword is strongest with the blade so if hit from the side it will break, here is your sword" he passed Yami a katana.

(Later)

Yami was swinging his sword down over and over, he said"997 998 999 1000" he was out of breath and it hurt to move, "my arms feel like they're about to fall off, thank god that's over" Yami said, breathing heavily. Kosuke suddenly popped out from behind a tree saying "good, now 500 more "WHAAAT!!?"

(A couple days later)

Yami started going in the black box with his sword, he started dodging the rocks and logs but then suddenly got hit in the side by a rock "AAAH, the added weight from the sword throws me off"

(After 4 hours of training in the box)

Yami walked out to see Kosuke there "oh hi sir" Yami said with a smile. "Come at me," Kosuke said. The sudden demand threw Yami off. "Wait what?" "I said come at me, i want to see if you learned anything" "ok" "and one more thing" Kosuke's eyes became focused and he was now giving off an intense aura. "Come at me like you wanna kill me or you'll die." Yami tensed up for a moment seeing Kosuke's strong eyes staring him down. Yami took a deep breath. "Right" then suddenly lunged at Kosuke and took out his sword, he slashed down at him with full force, but Kosuke dodged to the right then kicked him in the gut causing Yami to fall to his hands and knees, coughing as Kosuke said "again"

(After a couple of weeks sparring and getting use to the sword)

Yami walked outside the cabin and Kosuke said "for today's lessons you will be learning breathing techniques and fighting forms, 1st. full concentration breathing, I'll teach you all six darkness breathing forms. start by taking a deep breath, let the oxygen flow into every cell of your body, this will enhance your healing ability and stabilizes as well as energies your spirit. relax your arms and shoulders but keep your lower body braced, good, now breath" Yami took a deep breath to where Kosuke suddenly punched him in the gut and said "wrong!, next: the forms."

(After the forms)

Kosuke and Yami went into the black box. "Now you must become one with the darkness" Kosuke said "one with the darkness?" "You see, before you've been waiting for the objects to slightly touch your clothes and then you would move with great speed, however this won't work when you fight demons faster than yourself. so now you must feel the darkness, feel the power surrounding you, become one with it then dodge" Yami took out his sword and got into his stance right foot in front of the left with his sword out. Suddenly a log hit him in the back, then a rock shot into his forehead, sending him crashing onto his back. Kosuke sighed saying "Perhaps this was too soon, we'll try again tomorrow" "NO!. I can do it, give me another chance" Yami pleaded. Kosuke nodded in response. Yami got up then went into his stance once again then closed his eyes. "Here it comes," Kosuke thought to himself. A log was about to hit Yami in the back, when he dodged. Yami started dodging all the traps with ease. Kosuke said, "Now counter" 5 knives went flying at Yami but he quickly cut each of them in half with his sword. He then jumped to avoid an incoming log then cut the rope making it fall. Multiple rocks shot towards Yami, He caught one then used it to block the others, He then threw it to block a knife, making it ricochet off the rock to cut the rope of another log. Kosuke smirked, taking his sword out of its holder, He then lunged at Yami with great speed and went for the throat. Yami blocked with barely any effort. Kosuke jumped back, catching three incoming rocks with his fingers. He launched them one after another at Yami. Yami took a deep breath and cut each of them in half then ran at Kosuke, dodging all incoming objects. Kosuke smiled then dashed towards him moving faster and faster until they clashed. Kosuke suddenly disappeared then reappeared behind Yami. He then raised both of his arms up then slammed his sword down with great force, just seconds before the blade could make contact with Yami's head, Yami spun around with his sword at his side, He exhaled as strong dark energy came out from his mouth, he spoke with a calm voice saying "Darkness Breathing 1st form Jet Black Slash' 'Yami's sword quickly got consumed by dark energy, it moved to the blade as he swung colliding with Kosuke's sword. Yami's attack quickly overpowered him, sending him flying into the wall of the box. Kosuke slid down the wall landing on his feet seeming uninjured as he put his sword away disappearing into the darkness.

(After a couple hours)

Yami walked out of the box and said ''hey ""oh, you seem unharmed besides the part when you got hit with that log and that rock. Well done. Alright, from now till final selection I will be putting you through training that's 100 times more difficult than this level, you're going to be in so much pain you're going to be begging me to kill you, think you can handle it" "I'm starting to think he might be a sadist." Yami thought with a blank expression when Kosuke shouted "HEY, I ASKED YOU IF YOU THINK YOU CAN HANDLE IT!!." "Y-YES SIR!!"
