As the two flew away from the still burning wreckage of the compound, they saw another helicopter fly out.

"That bastard got out, didn't he?" Vesper said angrily.

"It seems he did." James said.

Several hours later, the two made it to London. James had somehow alerted Mallory to meet him at an MI6 safe house.

"Exactly how safe is this, sir?"
A voice James recognized as Bill Tanner said from outside the door.
"We're about to find out." A voice that was clearly Mallory said.
As soon as Mallory opened the door, he was met by the dark form of James Bond.
"It's safe. Better wait here." Mallory said to the people behind him. As he put his bag down on the table, he noticed Vesper in the corner.
"I'm M." He told her.
"Vanessa Lewis, 0014." Vesper said, her face showing a mask of indifference.
"The mysterious 0014. I was wondering when I'd finally meet you, there's a note in your file that says to keep you away from 007, either of you care to explain?" Mallory said, looking between the two.

"I have no idea, sir." James said.

"Hmm." Mallory said, before leaning over to open his bag. "So, what do you have for me, 007?"

"The recently deceased head of Spectre, Ernest Stavro Blofeld, and his chief on intelligence, your new best friend, C." James said, stepping out of the shadows. Mallory stared at him with a blank stare for a moment. Before James continued, "About to take control of his very own global surveillance system that he built right here under our noses."

"Then we'd better move. The system goes on at midnight." Mallory said, loading a pistol.

"If that happens, Spectre will have control of everything. So, you and I will have a quiet word with C while Q hacks into the system and stops it going online." James said.

"It won't be easy." Mallory said.

"He'll find a way. He always does." James said.

"It's good to have you back, 007." Mallory said.

"Sir." James said. Mallory nodded to Vesper and walked out.

James looked to Vesper, who gave him a small smile, and followed Mallory out.

"Eve?" Vesper called out to Moneypenny, making her stop and look behind.

"V!" She responded as the women embraced.

"I haven't seen you in years, I was starting to get worried. You joined 6?" Vesper questioned.

"Took a desk job in 2012, after Istanbul." Eve explained.

"You two know each other?" James asked, astonished.

"Yes, James. We met in, 2009?" She asked, looking at Eve for confirmation.

"Sounds about right. So, how do you two know each other?" Eve asked the couple.

James opened his mouth to respond, but Vesper cut him off before he could say anything. "He's my fiancé. I'll tell you afterwards."

"As much as I love this happy reunion, we have a surveillance system to bring down!" Q shouted at them from the bottom of the stairs.

As the group made their way outside, Vesper called out.
"James, I can't." She said, stopping by the door.

"I'll come back for you when it's all over." James said, coming over to her.

"James, promise me you'll be careful. These people nearly killed me. I know you, you're going to do this regardlessly, either for retribution or revenge or something, but I know you're going to do it. Just promise me you'll be careful." She asked, eyes begging him.

"I will, I promise. I'll come find you." He promised, walking over to her, and kissing her forehead. "I love you." He said before running off to catch up.

"Are you in yet, Q?" Mallory asked over his earpiece as James drove. As James drove into a tunnel, he looked behind to see if anyone was following. He didn't see anyone, so he continued driving straight. Suddenly, a car came out of the side entrance and rammed them into the wall. A black van drove in behind the car, and the car backed up. A man got out of the car, opened the driver door, put a hood around James' head and dragged him in to the van. They walked back to the car to find that Mallory, was gone. And the car with Tanner, Q, and Moneypenny in it driving into the tunnel. The group pulled into the tunnel to find the scene of the open black van, the car, and the wreckage of James and Mallory's car. The stood at a stop for a moment until one of the men noticed them, and Moneypenny said, "They've seen us! Reverse!" Tanner sped away backwards through where they came as two of the men began shooting at them. They managed to break a window in the backseat, nearly hitting Q. Mallory limped up the stairs to the exit of the tunnel, where he flagged down Tanner and Moneypenny.
"Go!" He shouted as he got in.

The van carrying James eventually halted to a stop, where James was forced out, and one of the men said, "Get him in the building!"
He could tell that there were two man handling him, one of them yelled, "Move. Move!"
One of them held a gun to his head, James swung his tied hands up, knocking the men's arms down, and grabbed the gun. He shot both men, broke the tie holding his hands together, then pulled the black hood off his head. He found himself standing in front of the old MI6 building, the burned remnants of Silva's explosion visible at the top.

He entered the dark and dilapidated building, observing the black cargo net hanging far above his head. He looked at the large plaque of names before something in red caught his eye. He looked at the bottom right corner of the plaque, and saw James Bond spray painted in red with an arrow under it, pointing him to the left. He decided to play Blofeld's game, and followed the arrow down a hallway.
