Genie was leaning against her Impala in the school parking lot waiting for school to start.  Her only human best friend, Angela Webber, stood in front of her talking about this book she just finished.  Angela and Genie both enjoyed reading and discussing the books that they'd read. Genie was listening to Angela so intensely that she didn't even notice the slight pain in her chest had fully disappeared with the arrival of the Cullens. Angela was the first to notice the newcomer that arrived with the Cullens and noticed that he was looking directly at Genie.

"Hey, Genie, there's a new guy with the Cullens and he's staring at you," Angela said.

"What," Genie said as she turned around to see who Angela was talking about.

When Genie's mismatched eyes landed on a familiar face her eyes widened in shock. However, instead of ruby-red eyes, golden ones looked back at her.

"Demetri," Genie whispered in utter shock at seeing her mate standing with her second family and with gold eyes no less.

Without missing a beat, Genie shoved her school bag into Angela's arms and took off across the parking lot running at human speed towards her mate. As soon as Genie reached Demetri she jumped into his arms as he spun her around, happy to have his mate in his arms.

Finally putting her back on her feet, Demetri placed his hands on her hips as she wrapped her arms around his neck before the mates shared a passionate kiss

Finally putting her back on her feet, Demetri placed his hands on her hips as she wrapped her arms around his neck before the mates shared a passionate kiss.

When the mates pulled apart, Genie whispered against his lips, "What are you doing here? I thought you were on a mission and we couldn't see one another for a while?"

When the mates pulled apart, Genie whispered against his lips, "What are you doing here? I thought you were on a mission and we couldn't see one another for a while?"

"I've been adapting to the animal diet for two months with the Cullens," Demetri said as he places his forehead against hers.

Genie's eyes widened at this news. He was there for two months and no one said anything. Genie lowered her arms from her mate's neck, hurt that he didn't even visit her or even tell her that he was there in Forks. She turned to her best friend Jasper, hurt that he didn't even tell her that her mate was there.

"You've been here for two months and didn't say anything about it to me? Did my fathers know?"

"Cain saw me Saturday night but I asked him not to tell you that I was here. I wanted to surprise you, cara mia," Demetri said as he gently cupped her cheek.

"I'm gonna need some time, Demetri. Yes, I'm so happy that you're here, but for two months you were here and never said anything," Genie said as she got out of her mate's arms and walked back to an awaiting Angela.

Demetri was slightly hurt that Genie was mad at him and the Cullens. After all, Jasper was the one who tried to convince him to tell Genie that he was around, but Demetri had to beg Jasper not to tell Genie that he was around.

"I told you she'd be upset with you. Now she's not just mad at you, but us as well," Jasper said as he watched his soul-sister walk up to the school.

When Genie reached Angela, she took her bag and linked her arm with her human friend.

"I see Demetri's here," Angela said as the two girls walked to their lockers.

Angela had met Demetri a few times during his summer stay and she liked him for her best friend.

"Yeah.  The dickhead has been here for two months now living with his cousins and he never once told me," Genie said as she closed her locker.

"That sucks. He should have told you," Angela said as they walked to their first class.

When the girls entered their first class, Genie saw that Demetri was sitting in the empty seat next to Genie. Angela gave her friend an apologetic smile before taking her seat in the front of the class.  Genie took a deep sigh before sitting in her seat next to her mate.  As soon as Genie sat down, Demetri spoke to his mate.

"Cara Mia, please don't be mad at the Cullens.  I was the one to ask them not to tell you I was here. I wanted it to be a surprise and to show you that I've changed my diet so I can blend in better here," Demetri said.

"Demetri, you could have told me that you were here but said that we couldn't see each other just yet.  I would've understood," Genie said as she looked at her mate.

Before Demetri could reply, the bell to start class rang.  Their teacher began going over the new subject causing the conversation to end.  Demetri couldn't wait till class ended so he could talk to his mate.  An hour later the dismissal bell rang and Demetri quickly grabbed his items before taking Genie's bag from her.

"Genie, please forgive me, mon ange de la mort (my angel of death)," Demetri said, his Greek accent thick.

Genie couldn't help but sigh.  She knew how upset her mate was that she was mad at him.

"Okay Demetri, I forgive you and the Cullens.  I was definitely surprised to see you," Genie said as the mates made their way to their next class.

Throughout the morning, Genie and Demetri became the talk of the school other than Isabella.  By the time lunch rolled around, Genie was in Demetri's arms as they waited outside the cafeteria for her second family. Once the Cullens arrived, they all looked at Genie with caution.

"Yes I was mad at you lot this morning for not telling me that Demetri was here, especially you Jasper since we're best friends, but once he told me he practically begged for you not to say anything I forgive you guys," Genie said.

"It was amusing to see him beg.  I wish I recorded it," Emmett said.

Everyone but Demetri laughed, he was not happy to have begged her second family to not tell her that he was with them.  Especially Jasper, since he was her soul-brother.

"I knew you would forgive us," Alice said as she skipped to her sister and hugged her.

Genie thought of Alice and Rose as more sisters to her than her own.  Genie and Isabella were never close and both had a hatred for each other.  After pulling away from the Alice looped her arm around Jasper's and smiled at her almost complete family. The only one without a mate was Edward, but his mate had yet to be born.

"Everyone ready," Alice asked.

Everyone nodded.  Rose would walk in first, followed by Emmett, then Alice and Jasper, Genie and Demetri would follow, and Edward would bring up the rear. Unknown to the two mates and the Cullens, drama and trouble was just behind the cafeteria doors. As soon as Rose opened the cafeteria door, Genie hear her nosy sister ask a question that would lead them into a world of drama.

"Who are they?"
