I was stunned to see my parents standing there. My housekeeper must have told them and they must have rushed down.

"Ma..Pa.."

"Why did you come back? You should have just stayed with us. You are still not well, you know. And who are you?"

They directed that last question towards Man who was abit stunned and looked at them blankly. Before I could answer, he gathered his wits and replied.

"Sawadeekap. I'm Man. Man Trisanu. I'm Gawin's colleague. From work."

"Work? Oh." Their faces instantly changed. I looked at Man and told him to go on first.

"Phi, why don't you go on first? Thank you for today."

He looked at me and just nodded. He briefly touched my hand discreetly before leaving. I turned to look at my parents.

"I am fine. I decided to come back. I will just stay here for the remaining hospitalization leave."

"Why? Don't you need someone to look after you?"

"I be fine. I will keep you guys updated. You should go. Don't worry."

"You should come back with us. At least we are all home to look after you. Why do you have to stay here alone? And look, being alone landed you in this situation in the first place. You still want to be alone? You should really.."

"Ma! Can you stop it?! If you tell me I can rest when I am there, I will come. If you tell me I can sleep peacefully for atleast an hour, I will come. If you tell me you will stop giving me grief over my career, I will come. If you tell me you will stop pestering me to get married or settle like you did, I will come. But we all know none of this is going to happen! Have you seen my face?! I have slept more in the hospital than I did at home. I was happier there than at home. I am happier here than at home. If your intention of bringing me home is to wear me down, good job. You nailed it. Now let me go before I move away completely forever. I mean it. Go home now!"

I screamed, having finally lost it with my parents. They were stunned and jus left huffily. I knew they were pissed and once they calmed down or maybe even later, all hell will break loose again. But for now, they are gone. I gripped the door tightly as I tried to calm down. I looked up to see my neighbor looking at me.

"You ok, dear?"

"Yes, Yaa. Sorry."

She nodded at me, waving away my apology and smiled. I smiled at her and then closed the door, just sitting down on the floor engulfed by frustration and sadness.

A few minutes later, I heard a knock on my door. I figured it was my mom, to give me a piece of her mind. She was definitely the more difficult parent. I opened the door and went "Can't you take a hint Ma?!" only to realize it was Man.

I opened my eyes big, stunned at seeing him.

"I.. I'm sorry."

"It's ok. I was waiting downstairs. Then Yaa called me too so I decided to come up to check on you."

I looked at him blankly, worn out by my entire ordeal of the night.

"Let's go for a drive? It may calm you down."

I nodded. He smiled and showed me out. I locked the door after myself and we went down. I got into his car. We took a long slow ride, he played some music and took his time. No conversation happened between us, he didn't ask me on what happened and he didn't say a single word, just driving.

Lulled by the calmness of the ride and the music, I ended up falling asleep, oblivious to the world and out cold completely.

I woke up a little while later, thinking I had taken a 10 minute nap but the clock in the car shone 2am brightly. I sat up, gasping in shock!

Man was still driving calmly. "Phi! Why didn't you wake me up?!"

"You looked like you needed the nap. So I let you be. I'm driving home now since you are awake. Stay awake na."

"You.. you should have just woken me up. You been driving for hours. I am so sorry."

"It's fine. Don't worry about it."

He turned to look at me and smiled. I smiled soberly at him, the nap having refreshed me but feeling absolutely terrible he has been driving around in circles just for me to nap. I looked at him.

"Don't you want to know what happened?"

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"Not quite yet."

"Then, I don't want to know anything. When you are ready, we can talk about it."

I nodded, looking at him. I sighed and leaned back in my seat.

"We are almost home! Please don't sleep now, na!" Man suddenly exclaimed. I burst out laughing, sitting up straight again.

I nodded my head fiercely, promising not to. We soon reached my condo. He wanted to send me up and I stopped him.

"Go on home and rest. I will be fine."

Man looked at me hard.

"I promise."

He nodded and finally drove off.
