I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It appeared to be surreal. "What....... was your name once again?" I frantically inquired. "Heather Avery, In case you missed it the first time." She said it quite awkwardly. I was just seconds away from hugging her and tying her to me. But I controlled myself.
Where have you gone, Mr. Goody-two-shoes? In my head, my logical bastard voice asked. He was, of course, correct. Practically speaking, if I just randomly throw myself off Heather, not only will it create a huge misunderstanding, but it will also make her hate me more. I quickly gathered the courage to confront her normally. "No, I didn't hear it wrong. It was just that your name was so lovely. And your voice, too. I simply wanted to hear it again." "I was completely enchanted, you know?" I delivered a flawless lie with ease. Being an actor comes in useful at times.
Redness bloomed in her cheeks. Her gaze was drifting away from mine. "No, it isn't." she protested softly. "By the way, you look quite... familiar?" For a split second, a sudden realization flashed across her face. You are Nicholas, right?" "The well-known a...." before she could continue speaking, I put one hand on her mouth and another on her waist to bring her closer. She looked confused and angry. God...... I wanted time to stop right here.
Her body against mine. Breaths intensified.
I could hear her heartbeat. My intrusive thoughts wanted me to claim her thin lips. But I snapped back to reality. "Want everyone to know I'm here? That would be quite...... strenuous." I whispered into her ear. "Mmmmmpf..." She attempted to shove me away.
I let her go. She glanced at me with a mixture of rage and disbelief in her eyes. Her lower lip twitched slightly. She gathered her expressions before speaking. She hasn't changed at all. She is still conscious of her expression, it seems. "Please accept my sincere apologies. That was a mistake on my part. But, I guess, what you did wasn't precisely the appropriate thing to do with a stranger on the first encounter." She spoke it calmly as usual.
It's our first meeting, and she already has a not-so-good impression of me. I unintentionally scraped the back of my neck. "Please forgive me for touching you without your permission." "It was impolite of me," I admitted my mistake. It's just that there are paparazzi everywhere. And if the paparazzi even get a whiff of me, I'll be doomed for." I tried to explain myself. Heather laughed at what I said. Her laugh felt like a calming melody in my ear. I thought she was.... angry with me. "I understand, but why are you here?" "I thought you were supposed to be promoting your upcoming film? Wasn't it supposed to come out in two months?" Heather inquired. "It is, indeed. I am sure my manager would think about it. And I'm here to do research." "I'm playing a small-town boy in a movie. So I'm here to see, observe, and learn for myself. It will be really beneficial to my role." My lies came easily from my mouth.
Heather left for the day after handing me some rice cakes. For once, fate was on my side. Heather becoming my next-door neighbor was out of the question. But it was fate that brought us together. But the real issue was, how was I going to tell who I am actually?
It was fucking 7 in the morning and I was still awake. I stayed awake for the first time since college. Not to study or script revision. But for a girl, who, by the way, happens to be my first love, What an irony!
Even if I couldn't sleep, I should get some exercise. I was taking medications daily to keep my symptoms under control. I asked Dr. Lee not to tell anyone about my situation. It will only harm me. It will also generate a lot of negative press for the film. Speaking of the film, I'm pretty sure Ethan is cursing me out there. Yes, I have gone a few days without making any contact with anyone. But Ethan was aware of it the entire time. But I just left a fucking letter this time, as if I were in some Wattpad story.
