 the 1817 season has officially begun and queen charlotte looks forward to welcoming her only grandchild, the daughter of her eldest son, princess georgiana as she returns to the ton.

nestled away in versailles unpopular at her court, failing catastrophically to produce an heir and resented by her husband, future king of france, the sole heir to the british throne eagerly awaits the summer. adored by both her grandmama and grandpapa, georgiana is allowed to visit london for four months of the year at the height of the season as agreed in her marriage contract.

divorce has been forbidden and how to save her marriage is the main topic of the royal household. however, it is a comfort to the young dauphine that there are perhaps a few marriages that are similarly struggling and the ton begins to advise the young princess on her precarious situation. the duke of hastings quickly proves to be one of those members of the ton and becomes a much needed comfort in the dauphine's time of distress. 

innocent companionship morphs into a deep obsession for the future queen of france and the duke of hastings and they test the limits of the english and french aristocracy, their marriages and what they will do for one another, irrespective of the consequences that await them.

this is not historically accurate in regards to specific parts of the context [if you care: the king of france in 1817 was louis XVIII, prince george/george iv had a real daughter that died aged 21 & i imagine georgiana being at court during the ancien régime which no longer exists after the revolution]. this just makes the stakes a lot higher in regards to the plot and i adore french history so please forgive me for this! [we could just pretend to push bridgerton back to the mid-late 18th century long before 1789 <3]

think scandalous period drama affair of royal proportions with the duchess [2008]/anna karenina by leo tolstoy/marie antoinette [2006] all serving as inspiration!

mature themes included throughout and needless to say i only own my own characters, dialogue and plots!
