II. Mates and Mind-Readers

There are times in your life when someone says something to you that is so absolutely unbelievably unbelievable that you don't believe it.

Instead, you laugh, hit them around the head and wait for either Mr Kutcher to jump out of the shadows or for them to spontaneously shout, "I Can't Deal With It!"

Unfortunately for me, when Mika sat me down on the park bench amongst a few fishy characters that always seem to appear after 10 in the evening, and told me he was a werewolf, neither of those events occured shortly after.

That could either mean one of two things: my best friends brother (half, according to Mika) is a few sandwiches short of a picnic or my life is actually becoming...Dare I say it... Interesting?

Yeah, it's the former. Definitely.

"Listen, Jacob-" I begin as Mika and I are still sat on the bench nearly an hour later, only for him to cut me off.

"Make another twilight reference and I swear I will burn every piece of their merchandise you so obviously have under your bed," he threatens and I'm glad that the darkness conceals the look of terror on my face. He's a monster.

No, he's a motherfucking werewolf.

The thing is, in every single book I've read about any kind of supernatural creature, the girl always freaks out when she's told someone is a vampire/werewolf/something-else-thats-just-as-wierd.

But I'm not even scared. Seriously, I'm not. I just flat out don't believe him, because.. Well because of alot of reasons.

The most prominent one being that I don't even know him, so why would I trust him?

"You shouldn't," Mika says, and I look at him in confusion, even though I know he can't see me.

Actually, if he is a werewolf, don't they have night vision or something? Or is that vampires? Or maybe rabbits... I guess I need to brush up on my supernatural knowledge.

"I shouldn't what?"

"Trust me," he states bluntly.

He's a mind reader. Oh my God. Can he hear this? Did he hear my pervy thoughts earlier about-

"Yeah." He chuckles and I bet I would see him smirking if it was lighter. "Don't worry, my thoughts weren't exactly innocent either." My cheeks flame and I hope to God it's rabbits that have night vision and not werewolves.

I jump up from the bench and stand there with my hands up, needing a minute to process Mr Edward Cullen here.

Never has twilight been so relatable.

"Definitely burning your twilight sh-" I put my hand over his mouth because, to be honest, my brain is about to explode. I ignore the tingles running up my arm from the contact seeing as I'm dealing with more than enough at the moment.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking. 'So you can cope with a werewolf but not a mind reader?' Well, I'm sorry but I'd rather have my boyfriend turn into a werewolf once in a blue- sorry, full- moon, than for him to be a permanent resident in my head.

Something moist touches my hand and I remove it from Mika's mouth quickly.

It reminds me of my earlier action with Jordan and internally roll my eyes that we have something in common.

It still doesn't warrant him wandering about inside me whenever he pleases.

Okay...That sounded better in my head. Wait, we are in my head.

Just ignore me.

"Trust me, I'm trying," Mika says whilst getting up from the bench to stand in front of me.
