"I said, no."

"It's a great thing I wasn't asking then, sweetheart."

"I don't know how many times you were dropped as a child, but the effects are becoming more plain by the day."

"Hilarious. Now, what are you wearing...?"

"I was thinking twice, but my prediction is fast approaching the double digits."

"...Jeans? Maybe a dress? Keep in mind it's a casual event..."

"Definitely double digits."

"...No heels though. You're already naggy. I can't imagine how you'll be after walking around in those for a couple of hours..."

"I should ask Jordan. Just to confirm, that is."

"...And there's no way I'm swapping shoes with you. Neither of us would have much luck walking after that. My feet aren't small. And you know what they say about men with big feet...but I digress! Up!"

It didn't take him much effort to yank me to my feet by my arm. The games night had ended half an hour ago and Mika wanted me to go to a party at his house. Or a 'get together' as he kept insisting on calling it. Apparently there were a few people he wanted me to meet, and he was not taking no for an answer. In fact, he hadn't acknowledged a word I had said in those 30 minutes since he had suggested it.

We were currently in my room after everyone had left, as he snuck back in through my bedroom window. I was reluctant to let him in, but the window was already open, so it's not like I had much choice.

I dropped back in my chair, glaring up at him. His blue eyes still startled me every time. They're just way too light, its unnerving.

"Before you rudely interrupted me, I was getting ready for bed. In case you hadn't noticed, I am fucking exhausted! And it's all the fault of a stupid supernatural guy who claims I'm his stupid soul mate."

"I don't know why you say it like it's a possibility and not a confirmed fact." His hand reached down quickly, stroking my cheek and I flinched away from the tingles. A wicked grin spread across his handsome face, "See?"

I feel my cheeks heat, but my glare didn't let up. I'm just gearing up to reply when he rudely interrupts.

"I'd also like to point that you just inadvertently called yourself stupid. And we can't have that, can we? Self love and all that malarkey." That grin didn't leave his face, even as I felt as though I was giving him such a dirty look that steam was coming out of my ears.

"Get out. Now." I said evenly, schooling my features into a calm expression. "Or I will never go and see these people you are so desperate for me to meet."

I see a flash of something in Mika's eyes, and for the first time the grin is looking more fake than anything.

"It'll be half an hour tops, Gabrielle. Trust me."

I stand up, facing him with my arms crossed as he pins me with that ice stare.

"Yes. And it's a half an hour I will not endure today, Mika. Trust me."

He lets out a bark of laughter, running his hand over his face in frustration. This time when he smiles, it's almost as if he's baring his teeth.

"You know I have the power to carry you over my shoulder, and take you away from everything you've ever known." He clicks his fingers. " In a second, Gabi."

I walk over to him, my stomach clenching as I feel a cold shiver going down my back. I can see the air around us shift. The tone of Mika's approach has changed.
