Doubt. A five-letter word that can easily describe how some Christians feel. Doubt can be not believing God can do a certain thing or it can be longing for something so much that you want proof that God is going to fulfill His promise to you. Either way, doubt can cause us to do crazy things, like stop talking to God, trying to "help" God, and even leaving your relationship with God altogether. Doubt is an extremely powerful feeling. It is sometimes caused by the fear of the unknown or by a longing for someone or something. To me, doubt boils down to one thing, trust. Most people who call themselves a Christian, don't actually trust God. And I don't mean trusting Him with your finances, your business, or even with your family, (even though these are good things.) I mean trusting Him with your life. Knowing that your Father in Heaven will always be there for you. Knowing that when your life goes upside down and right-side up, He will be there to hold you. Knowing that the Creator of the Universe. has you in the hollows of His hands.

Biblical Instances of Doubt

Believe it or not, there are many instances of doubt in the Bible. For example, Abraham and Sarah. Sarah was barren and she really wanted a child. So, she was like "Let me give Abram, (Abraham) my slave, Hagar, to sleep with, and I can build a family through her." (Genesis 16:2) And at that time, God had already promised Abram that he would have a son with Sarai, (Sarah). So, instead of waiting on God's promise, because she really wanted a child, she decided to "help" God. She didn't doubt that God would give Abram a child, she just doubted that God would give Abram a child through her. So because of her longing for a child, she doubted what God could do. But even though she went seeing for herself, Sarah still had Issac at the age of 100. Moral of the story? There is no need to doubt God, He can do it all.

How do I deal with doubt?

1. Read the Word.
Reading the Bible, learning about God's promises, and what He says about you is so important. When you know what God says about you and your situation, there will be no space for satan to come in and plant lies and doubt.

2. Prayer
Many Christians don't understand the power of prayer. Prayer is so important. Prayer isn't reminding God what your problems are. Prayer is reminding your problems who God is. Prayer is communication with your Father in heaven. Make sure to commune with your Father daily. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-17)

3. Remember He loves you
Remember God is here with you. He loves you and wants you to come to Him. He wants to take your burden. Don't be afraid to give that burden to Him.
