Thunder

CHAPTER 2

As soon as Jayde and I were in our swimsuits, and all of us (except Ty) were in the water, we were all swimming out to the buoys.

"I'll beat you!" I yelled at Sawyer and Jayde, which just made them swim faster.  The first one to the buoys was Jayde. Then it was Me. Then Sawyer.

"Wow, pretty boy. You just got beat by girls." I tease, poking his chest, as we all balanced on the rope that connected the buoys together.

"I did that on purpose." He says.

"Ok, whatever." Jayde laughs.

"It's getting pretty late. I should probably get home." Sawyer says, looking at the setting sun.

"Me too." Jayde agrees.

"Put your dang devices away. We're here." Jason ordered from the front seat.

I look out the window to see a bunch of baseball fields and a very large metal sign above the entrance. 'Hughes Diamonds' it read in big fancy black letters.

A few minutes later, we all were out of the car and walking towards the fields. We had to pay to get in, but students were free.

"What field are we going to?" I asked, looking around at the dozens of baseball fields that were surrounding us.

"7G." Ty read off of his phone. We all looked around for a sign that said anything close to 7G, but we were hopeless.

"I'm texting Sawyer." Ty says as he turns on his phone. He types something quickly and we all just wait there.

Soon enough, I hear a familiar voice behind me. "Are you lost?" We all turn around to see a smiling Sawyer.

"Sorta." I laugh.

"Yeah this place is too big for me." Ty says and sighs. He's right. These diamonds are fancy and it's nothing like the small town we're used to.

Sawyer's POV:

"Are you lost?" I say as I walk closer to the family.

"Sorta." Chloe says as she turns around and smiles at me. I smile back at her and stand next to Ty and Coach Jason.

"Yeah this place is too big for me." Ty shakes his head and laughs to himself.

"No kidding. It's huge here. Just wait until you see the fields!" I exclaim.

"Why? What's wrong with them?" Chloe curiously asks.

"They're completely turf!" Ty says as he faces the fields. We all stand next to a fence around a field and look inside. The infield is a dark brown turf and the outfield is a light green.

"That's so cool! I wish I could play on turf." Chloe sighs. The only fields we've seen is normal dirt or gravel fields.

"Anyway, we should probably go back to the team," I say, looking at Ty.

"Yeah. Your first game is at 10:30." Ty and Chloe's mom, I think Kelly if I remember right, tells us. We nod our heads in agreement and I lead everyone to the field we will play on.

As soon as we're there, I see my twin sister, Sophia, and my mom, Mandy.

"Hey. What's up?" I ask my family as I walk up to them.

"Not much. Just trying to find a place to sit." Sophia says.

"Yep." Mom agrees. I began walking towards the rest of my team. They were standing by a fence and watching a team play.

"Who's the team?" I ask my best friend, Tryton, once I'm standing next to him.

"Dell Rapids. We play them next." He informs me.

"Hey Saw!" I hear my other best friend, Kane, say. He calls me Saw because he knows I hate it.

"Hey Kaner." I smirk. His little sister, Kinley, and I always call him Kaner.

"How you been?" He asks as he walks away from the conversation he was just in with Briggs Veurink.

"Great. How about you?" I ask.

"Awesome. Any new girls I need to know about?" Kane asks with a smirk.

"Not really. I guess... there's a girl. You know Ty, like our new teammate? Well, his sister, Chloe. I can't get her out of my head!" I tap my temples lightly.

"Good for you bro. I heard she's hot." Kane says as he pats me on the back. Hearing Kane say that Chloe is hot makes me nauseous.

"Thanks, I guess. But keep your distance. I don't want you corrupting her." I say, leaning against the fence.

"Woah... did you just get defensive? BRIGGS! Sawyer just got defensive!" Kane shouts to Briggs as he pulls me towards the other boys.

"Dude, seriously? Who's the lucky girl?" Briggs Veurink asks me as he nudged my shoulder.

"Shut up." I say and I turn to finish watching the current baseball game.

"That new Larson kid's sister." Kane explains to Briggs. "Kayla? No. Maybe Cali? No that wasn't it either. Uhm... what was her name?"

"It's Chloe. Chloe Olivier." I glare at my best friends. Kane and Briggs sit there an just start laughing, but I just walk away. My friends can be really annoying sometimes.

As soon as I left them, I went to go find Ty. I had been looking around for about 10 minutes when I saw him standing next to Chloe, Kypton Denning, and Berklee Veurink.
