16. Chandbalis and Hypocrites

Nila's pov - 

Here we are in the jewellery store. Aru said," Mom which one is more durable pearls or diamonds." Amma said," First look at all the designs then lets think about the stone but I would say get diamonds or other stones, pearls tend to flatten over time." Akshith sat to my left, Aru and Amma were to my right. I wanted to treat myself as well, I wanted to find some good gold Chandbalis for Aru's engagement. The salesperson started showing us cases of rings and Aru liked none of them. We went through the same routine for the next 2 shops and finally found her ring at the 3rd shop. I as well didn't like any Chandbalis in any of these shops, they were either too heavy or too simple. Amma said that we should go to maximum twomore shop for my chandbalis and Aru's earrings as it was already 7pm and call it a day.

We were here at the last shop and as soon as he came out with the boxes Akshith picked up these chandbalis with white uncut diamonds and pearls and I fell for them. I fell for them 10 times more than boyfriend I fell for. Amma started bargaining, saying making charges and all these weird terms I didn't have any idea of. She won at the end, she saved 50k by bargaining. My happiness has no bounds at this moment. As we were at the billing counter, my phone started ringing, it was the alterations guy. I picked up and he said," You can come and pick up lehenga today if you want by 9pm or tomorrow morning." I said," I will be there in an hour, thank you." We were on our way to the car when I said," Amma I will book a cab and go to the tailor shop, you guys go to the next store." Amma said," Cab this late, no, no Akshith will take you after he drops us at the next store." I had no other choice but to agree.

We dropped Amma and Aru and Akshith said," I am not your driver, come and sit in the front." I said," More ac for me then." And got down the car and went to sit in the front. He drove to the tailors shop and waited outside in the car while I went in, collected the dresses and came back. 

Akshith's pov - 

After last night I have no idea what I am doing with my life. Nila is my cousin's best friend and a part of the family as Atha said, I can't just go around liking her and ruining everything. I know this, I chant this and yet when I see her, I forget everything. All the logic in the world evaporates. This past month was been the most weirdest in my entire life, meeting Nila, fighting with her and now for some reason falling for her. Today morning I have no idea why I said that I will make her remember, it was quite she did remember seeing her blush like that. I need to stop this before it even begins.

Nila entered the car with bags, put them in the back seat and looked at me, I said with my hands on the steering wheel," What you said yesterday night, I know you remember.." She cut me in between and said," Can we please just forget that? I was drunk and not in my proper mind." I couldn't help but notice the  way she was fumbling with her fingers, Aksh focus man. I said," Yeah, I hope you don't say or think such thoughts because I don't think I will reciprocate such feelings." Nila said," Damn she turned me down faster than I used to turn down my math homework. Anyways, don't worry I would rather see dolphins fly than like you out of all the people." I said," That's good to know." Nila said," I knew you were a douche but not such a dumbass as well." I said," Inner voice, you are saying it out loud." Nila just put her face in her palms and bent forward a little, the hair colour is almost all out. What a pity! She looked hot with blue hair. Aksh man you are a hypocrite said my inner voice.

I started the car and we headed to where Atha and Aru were. They exited the store as we arrived. As soon as Aru got in she said,"Nilaaaawe found these beautiful jhumkas, finally jewellery shopping is done." Nila said," I can't wait to see them on you for the engagement." She was smiling just as much as Aru, I will never understand their bond. They aren't blood sisters but act like they are.

As we were about to drop Nila at her home Atha said," Nila day after tomorrow be home in the evening we have to go to the bazaar for the engagement the next day." Nila said," Ok amma and also the wedding is in three weeks when are we going shopping for that, we still have to get the dresses and all tailored." Atha said," The day after engagement or the day after that probably we have to do that as soon as possible." We reached Nila's house and she left after saying bye.
