Hermione's heart weighed heavy as she made her way through the bustling corridors of Hogwarts. The encounter with Draco lingered in her thoughts, their connection both enticing and unnerving. She was lost in her contemplation when she rounded a corner and collided with Ron, nearly knocking him off balance.
"Watch where you're going, Hermione!" Ron exclaimed, his tone sharp with irritation.
Hermione sighed, her patience wearing thin. "I'm sorry, Ron. I didn't mean to run into you."
He scowled, crossing his arms over his chest. "We need to talk, Hermione. It's been weeks, and you're avoiding me."
Her jaw clenched, a mix of frustration and resentment bubbling within her. "Avoiding you? I've been dealing with my own struggles, Ron. I can't be everything you want me to be all the time."
Ron's face reddened with anger, his voice rising. "Is that what you think this is about? Wanting you to be everything? I just want you to care, Hermione. To prioritize our relationship."
Hermione took a step back, her voice tinged with hurt. "I do care, Ron. But it's not enough. We've grown apart, and it's not fair to either of us to keep pretending."
He scoffed, his eyes narrowing. "So what, you're just going to give up? Throw away everything we've had?"
Her voice shook with a mixture of sadness and resolve. "It's not about giving up, Ron. It's about facing the truth. We're not happy anymore. We've been holding onto something that's no longer there."
Ron's face twisted in disbelief, his voice filled with desperation. "You can't mean that, Hermione. We can fix this. We can work through it."
She shook her head, her voice firm. "No, Ron. I can't keep pretending that everything is okay. We're only hurting each other more by clinging to a love that has faded."
Anger surged within Ron, his voice rising to a shout. "You're being selfish, Hermione! Thinking only about yourself and what you want."
Hermione's eyes blazed with intensity, her voice cutting through the air. "Selfish? I've given everything to this relationship, Ron. But I can't keep sacrificing my own happiness for the sake of something that's crumbling. It's time we both face the truth and move on."
Ron's face twisted with anger, his voice dripping with bitterness. "Fine, Hermione. If that's what you want, then go. Go be with Malfoy for all I care."
Hurt and anger surged within Hermione, her voice laced with a mix of pain and defiance. "This isn't about Draco, Ron. This is about us. And if you can't see that, then maybe it's better if we go our separate ways."
They stood there, locked in a heated silence, their relationship crumbling before their very eyes. Hermione turned away, tears welling in her eyes, and walked away from Ron, the weight of their argument heavy on her shoulders.
