WeatherTheStorm_PR, thanks for the challenge. There were so many cool prompts.

Rain always wanted to be an architect.

When the opportunity to visit the architecture faculty presented itself, Rain grabbed his chance with both hands. His friend Por had asked Rain to accompany him to the universities' open day. Under the guise of being the benevolent best friend, he had ditched all his chores and come to the rescue without thinking twice.
Por had wanted to study biotechnology, the most boring of subjects if one was to ask Rain, and his campus was right next to the architecture faculty building.

Eager at the thought of catching a glimpse of all the seniors and maybe even stealing a look into the classrooms, he practically vibrated in his shoes. He had been fidgeting ever since he sat on the bus in the direction of the university.

Now, Por was off looking at boring biology lecture rooms while Rain had snatched a pamphlet from the seniors about the godly subject of architecture. He had ensconced himself on one of the benches in the middle of the faculty building and scribbled down the mantra that had been repeating in his brain for hours. 'I must pass! I have to be an architecture student!'

Rain had felt delightfully naughty writing it on the paper. Not that he could find any reason why he would think that.

This euphoria lasted until his blasted friend came to drag him away to the science faculty. Apparently, he needed mental support to queue in line for his starter pack. The girl at the desk was a 'heavenly angel' - Por's word, not his.

With a heavy heart, Rain had given up his perfect perch and had followed his friend. They had been halfway out of the building when he noted an empty space in his backpack. He had forgotten his pencil case and the pamphlet on the table. Crap!

At record speed, Rain hurried back. Imagine his surprise when he discovered that a kind senior had left him an encouraging note on his pamphlet as well as a set triangle. He would cherish the tool for the rest of his life.
Actually, it has since become his lucky charm. Rain had taken the entrance exam and passed it with flying colours. His euphoria was short-lived, though. The day Rain had gotten his acceptance letter in the mail, his parents had asked him to sit down with them on the couch.

That question never bode well for anybody, nor did it for Rain. His entire world crumbled when his father revealed that he had been promoted and the whole family would soon move to a new town.

Rain had begged and cried to stay in Bangkok. He made his case by stating that he could remain alone and live in the dormitories, but nothing he said could soften their hearts. Rain would move with them.

After that, time passed by in a blur, and they sold their old house and moved halfway across the country.
His parents made their case by mentioning that their new hometown had a renowned university. But what did that matter to Rain? It had no architecture programme, so their words were of no comfort at all.

Without a plan, Rain had chosen his field of study at random. If Rain was being honest, he wasn't paying much attention to anything at that time. The spark had been quenched, and everything seemed void of colour in his life. Sure, Rain realised he was being dramatic, but this was his time to be melodramatic, and he would use the fact to his heart's content.
At some point, Rain had printed out a list of all the university's subjects. Closing his eyes, he blindly stabbed at a point on said list. Computer Science. Well, why not. He was good at math and enjoyed computers. Moreover, the subject could be fun.
