Rain has been working at Design Space for just over a week now. So far, the new job was everything he could have asked for. His office was tucked away in the corner of the workshop, where he could observe the creative bustle. Open-planned office spaces were really the best. Apparently, they boosted productivity, and Rain could definitely vouch for that. His productivity was through the roof.

Everything was perfect except for one thing. Phayu. The man was a nuisance. Wherever Rain went, he would casually pop up.

For instance, Rain would go to the kitchen to pour himself a cup of coffee. Voila, there Phayu would be, brushing past him and claiming his freshly poured mug. "Is that for me? Thank you so much. It's incredible how you always know what I need, isn't it?!" And Rain? He would stand there, lost for words and kicking himself mentally for shivering in response.

Did the bastard really think he could do this to Rain and get away with it? Clearly, he did. Because situations like this just kept on happening.

Yesterday, for instance. Phayu had called Rain's extension, asking for assistance. That in itself was nothing unusual. "Nong Rain, could you please come by my desk? My computer is not turning on."

Rain immediately carded through possibilities about what could have happened in his mind. "Did you have this problem before?"

"No."

Monosyllables. Great. Rain could already feel his hackles rising. "Have you checked if it is plugged in properly?"

"Yes."

...

"Did you check your monitor connection?" He continued.

"Yes."

............

"Have you tried starting your PC in safe mode?"

"How?"

.... Arg! Hackles were officially up now, thank you very much.

"I understand you are a busy man, but could you get over yourself and just fucking answer me in a sentence?"

The line went deadly silent, and Rain was tempted to end the call right then.

"Nong Rain," Phayu's voice cut through the silence. It was not loud, just intent. And something in Rain went very still. "Do you want me to come over to your table and teach you some manners in front of everyone?"

'Yes!' Where did that thought come from? And why did Rain suddenly feel the irrational need to prove himself? "P'Phayu." "Call me Khun, please." "Khun Phayu." He ground out through gritted teeth, "Could you please answer in sentences? My lowly self would appreciate it."

"That's close enough for now." Phayu hummed lazily. "Now, could you please repeat the question?"

Breathe in, breathe out. Now was not the time to make a scene. "Have you tried to start the computer in safe mode?" He repeated.

"How do I do that? I think you would save us a lot of time if you just came over to show me unless you have something more important to do, of course. Do you have anything more important to do? Hm? Rain?"

Did Phayu just purr? Rain quickly pinched himself—hard. What an infuriating man. "Are you telling me how to do my job?"

"No. Not unless you are into that?"

Rain desperately tried to remember that Phayu was a colleague, so he had the right to ask for Rain's IT expertise. However much he might grate on his nerves while doing so.

Without another word, Rain put down his phone. He pushed his sleeves up and walked to Phayu at a measured pace. It wouldn't do to make the other think he wanted to be there.
