Part 3

I tucked my knees into my chest, trying to breathe.  My lungs felt like they had frozen still, unable to let oxygen into my body.

What the hell have I done? 

I traced my fingers along the wood of the boat, trying to clear my head. 

I could still change my mind if i really wanted to. I could have him drop me off at some kingdom, i could start a new life, maybe be a merchant or something.

But i didn't want to do that. I wanted to be here.

And there was something about James that i couldn't quite place. And I needed to figure it out before i left.

"Reggie!"

I turned my head to see James walking towards me. It was almost as if thinking of him made him appear. 

"If you call me that again I will break your arm," I threatened, my breathing going slightly back to normal.

"I'd like to see you try," he smiled.

"What do you want?" I sighed, glaring at him,

"right to the point i see," he chuckled.

"Answer the question,"

"Okay, okay, i was getting there," he rolled his eyes, "dinners ready."

"Dinner?"

"Yes, you know, like food?" he laughed, "do you expect me to starve you or something?"

Food? He was going to give me food? Sure, I hadn't done anything wrong really but i had also been kidnapped. And i wasn't being the best guest or anything close.

If this was back home...

"Hey, you okay?" James asks, snapping his fingers in front of my face.

I blinked rapidly, snapping back to reality. I glanced down at my hand to realize that they were shaking.

"Yeah, i'm fine," I answered, clenching my hands into fists, to stop them from shaking. I bit my lip to keep the tears in my eyes.

"Okay then," he smiled, "then if you would follow me, i'll show you to the dining hall."

I nodded, pulling myself to a standing position. 

James paused for a moment, as if he was waiting for me to say something. When i didn't, he turned, heading down the hallway.

I crossed my arms, tasting blood in my mouth because of how hard i was biting my lip.

"You coming?" James called, turning slightly.

"Yeah, yeah," I nodded, "I'm coming."
