Chapter 13

Gabi eyed Jacq as she gushed about what Cole had done for her. "Bobby hasn't gotten me pads."

"Ask him." Jacq sat upon her bed, where the two were discussing their holiday Saturday as the boys took the kids to the trampoline park.

"I will!" Gabi nodded once. "So you had a great time?"

"It was... pretty amazing." Jacq ran her pendant along its chain.

"I meant dinner with his parents." Gabi smirked.

"Oh! Uh... I guess. Suegra is cool but his dad is a dick. I don't know what he said but he hurt Cole and that's no bueno!"

Gabi covered her friend's fist and lowered it. "Are you going to tell Cole?"

"Tell him what?" Jacq calmed.

"That you love him."

Jacq grew pensive. "It's been like two weeks."

"It's been three months."

Jacq pulled a cute upset face.

"And the past twelve years."

Jacq sulked.

"Please Jacq?"

"I- I don't- I can't- Gabi?"

Jacq looked so bereft, Gabi took pity on her. "When's your next appointment to see someone?"

"I see Jenny on Monday." Jacq spoke about her therapist.

"Have you been telling her about Cole?"

Jacq blushed. "Maybe?"

"Yay!"

Jacq giggled. "Gabi!"

"I'm serious!" Gabi leaned over to throw herself on Jacq.

Jacq laughed. "Since you're tryna have me bare my soul, are you telling Bobby you're in love with him?"

Gabi pouted. "No."

"And why not?"

Gabi chewed on her lips. "I do love him but he's probably going somewhere else for college and long distance relationships never work-!"

"Gab!" Jacq shook her. "Talk to Bob. Make plans together."

"Does Cole know you've applied to every university?"

"Probably not but we're not destined to be."

"You think Bobby and I are destined for each other?!" Gabi's romantic heart beat before she pulled herself to Earth. "You and Cole are meant to be!"

"What do we have in common?"

"Your families."

"You don't know how his family is."

"You said his mother is delicate and his father is harsh." Gabi nodded.

Jacq hadn't wanted to reveal more than that. "Yeah. Okay, one thing-"

"You're both gorgeous." Gabi flipped her long dark honey hair.

"I'm not- You think my husband is gorgeous?"

"How does Bobby look?"

Jacq pursed her lips. "Fine. He's gorgeous."

Gabi bobbed her head, satisfied she'd made her point. "You're both gorgeous. You're both smart."

"Really?" Jacq made an amused face.

"Yes. You're a genius and he's in love with you so that makes him smart."
