The neighborhood was quiet. Something you always found rather odd. Snow drifts gently unto your rooftop, the build-up increasing.

When you first came her it was a bustling chattering town always having something to say. Now no-one even bears to speaks up in classes. The only thing that cut through the silence was a dog barking, before being converted to whimpering.

Your eyes drowsily flutter open, the day is still young as it was dark outside. The culprit of your awake-ness was your home phone. It was chiming throughout the halls of your house and the person who was calling wasn't letting up, and by that description alone you already knew who it was.

You exhale, flinging your bedsheets off as your get up. You step into your slippers and open your bedroom door. You go to your console table and pick up the phone.

"Y/n, I've been calling you for the past 20 minutes-" Andrew shouted through the phone line. "Well maybe you should've waited till it wasn't. ." you peeked down the hall to your kitchen clock. "You should've waited till a time later then 3 o' clock in the morning. Asshole."You put the phone on the kitchen island as begin prepping your breakfast. "Yeah ok, I get it but I need to cash in on a favor."

You place down your bowl, "Is that so?" you ask, reaching into the fridge for the milk. The silence that followed was probably Andrew nodding despite being on the phone. "Yeah, so you remember Arnold?"

"That over-eccentric egotist that obsessed over his dog? Kinda too eccentric to forget." You remark as you grab the cereal out of the cupboard. "He is not-" Andrew paused to think. "Okay you have a point." he admitted.

"But that's beside the point." he argued as your pour your cereal and milk."He lost his dog and is alone in the woods. He's refusing to stop searching for him and will probably get himself killed."

"So. . the hell you want me to do?" you ask, scoffing down your gourmet cereal. Andrew sucked in air through his teeth."Aaah, I was maaaaaaybe hoping that. . . Icouldpleasecrashbyyourhouse?""Sure." you shovel another spoonful into your mouth. "I ain't got nothing better to do.""Thanks Y/n."

Without another word he hung up, leaving you alone with your cereal.~~~~You closed your porch door behind you as the school bus hisses to a stop. You hear the wind rustle the forest leaves and brush past your clothes.

You enter the school bus, the driver snorts and hold his hand out for cash. You reach into your pocket and pull out 3 bucks. You hand that to him and take a seat. The drive goes by as a blur, kids chattering and showing each-other memes on their phones. Giggling 'innocently'.

Eventually the forest comes to an end and the town itself comes into sight. The silent streets were oddly chatty today, as are the kids. The bus stops near the school and all the kids scramble to get out. You try to get up but get roughly shoved back down by the stampede of students.

After a solid century you manage to get off the bus, but by then school had already started. Then you realized."Wait a minute, why am I even here?" you ask yourself.Your best, friend. Approaches you."Hey Y/n-" "Yeah I need you to cover for me." You say interrupted them. "I'm skipping school." Friend's eyes go wide. "What? No wa-"You flash 20 bucks at them."Deal."They take the money and stuff it in their pockets. "So, mind telling me why your skipping. Again?""Nothing much really. Just don't wanna be in school. . I just feel like there's something I should be doing. ."~~~~You kick a pebble on the side-walk.The bustle of the morning was long-over, and now the streets were quiet as they have always been.

The wind has now cooled down to an abnormal chill, forcing the hairs on your neck to stand up. as fragile orange leaves drift across the road. You weren't in the mood for this. You reach into your pocket and pull out your mobile phone. You take your gloves of and input your password in, you begin calling Andrew. You sniff as the wind blows again, the pollen irritating your nose. The phone dial ends and he picks up. "Andrew speaking.""Andrew, I was just wondering. ." you say, kicking another rock. "When are you arriving? I don't want to punch you in the nose cuz you're knocking at my door at 12." the second rock falls into a drain.

"Hard teh saaaaaaaaaaaaayyy. . but maybe at quarter-past 9?" he estimates before amending: "9:15.""So, what's the plan then." You stop at an abandoned food truck. "Just run into the woods and hope to find Arnold? ooorrr, what." The wind begins to pick up, a can falls over in the ally besides you.

Andrew scoffs, "as much as you'd enjoy that plan no. I have something far more. ." he paused thinking for a word. "Intellectual?" you guess. "Smarter?""More strategic." he retorts. "Lay it on me." you aired."Alright so first-"

The air lit up, the alleyway erupted as a strong rush of wind and unbearable heat pummeled into you like if someone had just detonated a nuclear atom bomb mere meters away from you. Your ears bled in pitches that you haven't heard before, begging for the jarring blast to stop.Your bones felt like jello, even the insentient matter shivering in fear of the awe-inspiring power.Just as your body was about to give, the rush of wind slowed, before being sucked back into the alley.

The destruction and inferno reverted to it's prior state.Shaken and confused you pick up your phone that was cracked beyond recognition. It sputtered out a dying spark."Uhh, I'll call you back."You tap the phone and get a mini-shock, you yelp and chuck away the phone corpse. Now, NORMAL people would turn back and run away screaming but nooOooOoOOoooo. You a Y/n. You ain't normal at all.You steadily approach the eerily quiet alley. Now, it seems your brain had shut off as you weren't really processing what the hell is happening.

As you wave away the smoke, it clears and you see clammy tendrils rise. The figure seemed to grow larger by the second, it's crimson red eyes slicing through the fog.

"Mortal." the figure spoke, her voice ringing. "You- AcHOO." the remainders of smoke dissipated, revealing the entirety of the figure in front of you. .  and she was oddly. . .

"Heh, short."
