It was the first week of summer in 1959 when a abrupt event would take place. That event would change Benjamin and Sage's lives forever.

Third person POV

Benny and Sage were watching a movie in the living room while Cameron and Skylar where in the kitchen cleaning up after dinner. Their family's were very close like that and always have been ever since the moms were in middle school.

*Flashback*
It was 1940. Skylar and Cam were both 11. Skylar was sitting in her math class bored out of her mind when a new student walked through the door. As Cameron introduced herself she immediately caught Skylar's attention.

Skylar was know as one of the more popular and pretty girls. She had made friends with almost everyone instantly. Once Skylar saw Cameron she knew they would be best friends forever. I know it may sound corny but it was honestly true.

Once Cam was done introducing herself to the class she took a seat next to Skylar.

"Hey I'm Skylar, Skylar Jones" Skylar said eagerly as she put her hand in front of Cam's face for her to shake.

"Hi? I'm Cameron Stone but you can call me Cam." Cam said kinda confused as to why this preppy blonde popular looking girl was talking to her. She shook Skylar's hand very slowly and then let go.

"you're very pretty did you know that?" Skylar said smiling with her chin rested on her hand staring at Cam in awe.

"Uhhh I guess" Cam said questioning why she even came to this school in the first place.

"Ok well you're my best friend now and you can't change that." Skylar said very confidently

Cam just looked at her like she was crazy "I have only known you for like 2 minutes. How do I know your not a serial killer."

Skylar shook her head " how could I be a serial killer I'm only 11 plus those prison walls would not be good on my physical appearance."

Cam mentally face palmed "It doesn't matter if your 11 or 100 you could still be a serial killer."

"Mk whatever you say. But I promise you I don't kill cereal." Skylar said not even know what the actual meaning was.

Cam thought 'wow I guess the saying a dumb blonde is actually true. She may be pretty and all but she wasn't that bright.'

"Serial killer doesn't mean you actually kill cereal it means you kill or killed a bunch of people." Cam said making it very clear as to what she was talking about.

It took a minute for Skylar to realize but when she did she gasped really loud interrupting the whole class.

Mr. Henry sighed "Mrs. Jones is there a reason for your misbehavior of interrupting the whole class."

"No sir I'm sorry please continue." Skylar said with sincerity. Hanging her head low.

*End of flashback*

After that day Cam and Skylar became inseparable. If trouble was caused it was most likely them working together to get back at one of the boys that did something to Skylar or the girls that bullied Cam.

~•~

The Rodriguez and the Brooks always have this once a month thing where the moms and the kids get together at one of the houses while the dads go to the other house or just hangout. This time they went to a baseball game.

The night was different for one reason. The moms got a call from a neighbor that their husbands had been shot a couple houses down.

They both died that day because of a drive by shooting.

Everyone was heartbroken.

They had their funeral on Tuesday.

After that everyone stop talking or doing anything related to their dads. The only exceptions were baseball for Benny and Music for Sage that's the only way they kept their memory alive. It was too painful to talk about them so they just didn't and buried it deep deep inside.

Notes
I hope you like this chapter-ish thing if their is anything I can improve on please tell me. Please feel free to leave your opinion or anything just not rude because this is a positive space. I am going to base this in the time the movie was based on. But I will have newer things like cell phones and Netflix and stuff like that in the story to make it easier. Sorry if you don't like that.
