Sage's POV
It was dark.
Then I heard voices and sirens from all around me.
I couldn't understand them.
They all sounded muffled. Like when your listening to music and someone talks to you. You know their talking but you don't know what their saying. But in this case it wasn't with joy.
Not only could I not hear them but I couldn't see them. My vision was blurred like when your underwater I could see a blob but no real shape.
I felt my lungs compressed like someone thrust a weight at my chest.
My stomach was in a knot one that won't unwind. Like being on a roller coaster and feeling the need to throw up because you ate too many corn dogs or drank too much lemonade.
I felt like I was dying
How could I be dying? I tried tuning out the sounds, the voices, the sirens, and most of all that overwhelming pain in my chest.
It was no use. They stayed attached to me like a leach that didn't want to let go.
I felt tears streaming down my face. I didn't know when I let that happen but it sure wasn't helping anything. They were useless like a fan in the middle of winter.
I reached my hand up to my face to wipe them off but before I could someone engulfed in their embrace.
Instantaneously I could hear and see again but that agony was still there. The person began speaking to me again as they hugged me. Their voice was fatigued and trembling but it was warm nonetheless.
"Are you ok Conejito? You seem frozen. I know it's a lot to take in." The lady said to me in a calm soothing voice even though I could hear her pain that lay beyond the charade. (Conejito ~ little bunny)
I didn't respond. I wanted to but it was like someone took my voice the way Ursula took Ariel's in return for legs.
I just silently nodded instead because that was all I could do at the moment. She let go of me and looked in my eyes then I knew who she was. She was Cameron. We weren't actually related but she was like a second mom to me.
"Hey I have to go talk to the nice police man but I'll be right back ok you just stay right here" she said and I could see the agony in her eyes while the tears streamed down her face.
