Avery's POV
He seems to be fine with my reaction and moves on with the lesson. He has a habit of calling on me just to catch me off guard but strangely today he did not call on me, but seemed to glance at me throughout the lesson almost to check if I was ok. He never seemed to care in the past I have always been that kid that is lazy and hates talking. Finally the lesson is over after a long lecture and a few choice curse words. The rest of the class charges out of the room to go to lunch while I carefully get out of my chair and make my way to the door. Suddenly the deep voice of mr. Broderick brought me out of my thought. " Avery can you come here for a moment, I need to talk to you" with that I begin to shake and slowly, instead of going to him, back into the corner. Corners are the only place I feel safe. No one can sneak up on you which is worse than the abuse I suffer. He seems to register that I'm in a corner sobbing my eyes out because he carefully and very slowly approaches me. " Avery, baby it's ok I'm not going to hurt you" he hesitates for a moment noticing that what he said had no effect on me and slowly says " I'm going to come over to you now and pick you up, ok" a sob loudly at that and shake even more. He truly terrifies me and the only way I know how to react to people like that is to completely submit to them and show weakness. " Avery you don't need to be scared I won't come near you I promise" he then walks to the phone and says a couple of things I could not catch because of me loud sobbing. I was so terrified I and the had no idea of what was going on. Then he says something that worked me up even more. "Avery I just got a sub for the class so you have the rest of the day to calm down" and with that I slowly fell into darkness.
