WE DID IN FACT, LEAVE GRACE BEHIND on the shores of Mykonos. It was a collective decision, one that excluded both Charles and Grace from having any say in the matter. With Pierre ensuring Charles' safe passage onto the yacht, Max wasted no time firing up the engine and departing, leaving behind Grace's abandoned suitcases at the dock. Although not the most optimal solution, considering we would inevitably encounter her in the paddock, we were all in dire need of a reprieve from her incessant negativity and disruptive behavior. It was a choice made to preserve our sanity.
Walking through the bustling paddock now, I can feel the weight of that decision hanging in the air. The rest of the vacation was a whirlwind of joy and unforgettable moments, but the time has come to return to reality.
I hear Grace's contemptuous scoff before I even see her. Linking my arms with Mick and Max, with whom I've formed a stronger bond during our vacation, we continue our stroll.
"Maybe we shouldn't have left her behind," Mick muses quietly, glancing back at her as she shoots daggers in our direction. "She looks like she wants to murder us," he adds under his breath.
"She got what she deserved for ruining my Valentino dress and the first half of my vacation," I retort, rolling my eyes at the memory.
"I wonder if Charles is upset with us," Max ponders aloud as we navigate through the busy paddock.
"Oh, he definitely is," Lando interjects, joining our group.
Here we go again.
"Charles told Pierre, who told Alex, who told George, who told..." Lando starts, trailing off. "Just get to the point, Lando!" I scold, growing impatient.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," Lando teases, earning an eyeroll from me.
"Lando," Max chides, coming to my defense.
"Right, right. Well, word on the street is that Charles is upset about us leaving Grace, but no one's certain if it's because of her or... something else," Lando says, glancing around discreetly before lowering his voice. "Because he didn't seem overly angry with us when he found out."
"I heard it's because she scolded him after the trip," Daniel interjects, also joining our group.
"And who did you hear that from?" Mick inquires, a mischievous glint in his eyes. I shoot him a warning glare, knowing exactly where this conversation is headed.
"Don't even think about answering that," I interject, swiftly raising my hand to halt Daniel's response.
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," the Aussie repeats, smirking at me. Lando adds, "I said the same thing!"
"Are we back to gossiping again?" Alex asks, joining our entourage with George and linking arms with Lando.
"Oh my god," I groan, running a hand through my already disheveled hair.
"What's got you so worked up this early in the day?" George queries. Before I can respond, Mick takes the liberty of doing so for me.
"Grace is here and she looks like she's out for blood," Max replies with a wry smile.
