__________________________________Min-Jin leads you along the quiet path, even though Jamie's still holding your hand, he walks slightly behind you, still protective as ever despite his days as a partizan being over.
You can sense how tense he is, and squeeze his hand gently.
"So," Min-Jin begins, his voice light and friendly, "What courses are you guys taking here?"
"History." Jamie says.
"English Literature."
"Ah, good choices! I study history too, maybe you're in my class." Min-Jin flashes Jamie a smile, Jamie raises a brow.
Min-Jin pushes open a large, heavy door, leading into a dark corridor. "We're nearly there. Where are you both from?"
"Maradova."
"Cornwall. Where are you from?" You ask.
"South Korea, I moved to England when I was 15, then I finished school and started here a year ago." He turns a corner, then begins to climb some stairs.
Jamie releases your hand, taking your travel bag and carrying it for you.
You smile to yourself, admiring his hands and his furrowed brow as he walks. The heavy bags look as if they weigh nothing when he's carrying them.
"The girls dorms are this way," Min-Jin points left at the top of the stairs. glancing toward you, "Do you know your room number?"
You nod, "Yeah, I got an email with the code to unlock it."
"Cool, I'll show Jamie to-"
"I'll help her drop her stuff off first," Jamie interrupts Min-Jin, beginning to walk down the girls corridor.
"Yo, wait. You're not meant to go into the girl's section at night." Min-Jin protested, "if you want to see her at night, you have to be careful."
You step in, "He'll be in and out, I promise."
Min-Jin nods reluctantly, but still looks nervous.
You and Jamie tread down the corridor quietly, scanning the rooms for the right number.
You stop abruptly at room 24, Jamie nearly walking into you.
"We're here." You whisper, putting the code into the keypad lock.
The door clicks and you push it open slowly, flicking on the light.
The room is small, but cute, it has a big window which you love, a high single bed, a desk and a fitted wardrobe.
Jamie places your bag on the floor, then hooks his hand around your waist, wrapping his arms around you from behind.
"Do you like it?"
"It's perfect." You mutter, leaning into him. "But I don't want you to leave."
He plants a kiss on your shoulder. "I'll see you in the morning."
You smile, "Preferably after 7am."
Jamie smirks. "I suppose I can wait."
"Mkay," You turn in his arms so you face him, holding the back of his neck with your hands. "Can you stay any longer?"
"No," He smiles, "You need some sleep it's late already."
You sigh. "And Min-Jin's waiting."
He presses his forehead against yours. "Tomorrow y/n, I'll see you in the morning."
Jamie leaves you in the dorm room, you glance around once more, admiring the cute petite room that will be your home for the next few years.
You suddenly have the urge to speak to one of your Rosewood friends, as the new beginning is quite overwhelming.
You pull out your phone and open contacts, your thumb hovering over Lottie's number. But instead you call Binah, surprising yourself as you do it.
"Y/n?" Binah answers almost immediately, her face popping up on the screen.
"Hey Binah, sorry, I know it's late but I assumed you'd be awake reading some various book."
"You assumed correctly! Are you at Bristol yet?"
"Yeah, I just got into my room."
Binah's eyes light up, she takes a sip from a mug, which is very likely to be tea. "Ooh! How is it? Tell me everything."
"The campus is gorgeous, and my room is pretty cute."
"Does Lottie like it? What did she say when you called her?"
You hesitate, glancing away from your phone screen and dragging your thumb along its edge. "I actually haven't called Lottie yet."
Binah pauses, looking mildly confused - which is rare for her. "Oh."
You suddenly feel a wash of guilt, should you have called Lottie first? Why didn't you?
You change topics, feeling awkward now.
"How's Cambridge, Bin?"
"I love it! The library is definitely my favourite place so far, there's endless knowledge and experience at my fingertips."
I laugh. "I'm glad, I would bet on you spending at least 80% of your time in the library."
"I think 90 is more accurate. Anyway, I should go now y/n, I hope you sleep well."
"You too Binah, bye!"
The silence is loud when you hang up. You chew lightly on your bottom lip, trying to understand your apprehension towards calling Lottie.
You figure it's something to do with moving on from your old life, like you're not quite ready to accept how much less you'll get to see your sister over the next few years.
You flop backwards onto the unmade bed and exhale, staring at the ceiling. Too lazy to get up, you throw a pillow at the light switch to turn it off, then return to your original position staring at the ceiling.
You phone buzzes in your hand, the screen lighting up with a message from Jamie.
'Go to sleep'
You smile, rolling over and opening it.
'I am asleep.'
'Oh really? I must be dreaming then.'
'You're dreaming of me Partizan? You must be so obsessed, that's embarrassing.'
'Oh, my mistake, it's a nightmare. Especially with that nickname.'
'What else am I supposed to call you, Partizan partner?'
'My name.'
'Hm.'
'Hm.'
'Jam.'
'Jam is not my name.'
'I think Jam is a better name than Jamie.'
'Jam is a condiment ml. What do you want me to call you? Apple sauce?'
'You can call me whatever u want.'
'Go to sleep Apple Sauce.'
'Goodnight Jam.'
'Goodnight ml.'
You fall asleep with a smile on your face.
